Tateiwa Shrine was built by Emperor Keiko (13 BC ～ 130 BC) to celebrate the departure of Emperor Jinmu, but it was a simple shrine that was not flashy like a shrine in a port town. In the precincts, there is a shrine where you can feel the history of Iwa, which is said to have been sitting before Emperor Jinmu sailed.

It is a small shrine along the Mimi River at the end of the townscape. Although the precincts are not very large, each figurines such as stones, rocks, and guardian dogs make you feel the history. It can be said that it is a shrine with a long history because Emperor Jinmu departed from here.
