We made a special trip to visit this castle when on a tour of Svevo castles in Puglia.
I realize now that it was pure luck that we found it open and had a very knowledgeable young lady as a guide.
CLOSED July 2015
The castle is closed for the foreseeable future. According to a local the police closed the castle on instruction of a judge. Shame, it looks the most interesting destination for visitors to Oria.

The castle was closed and had notices pinned to the gates. It did not look like it would be open in the near future.

When a cultural heritage good comes into private hands this could happen: the castle is always closed! It is not fault of Apulian Government, not of the people of Oria. Poor castle, poor Apulia.
