Mud volcano is one of Yellowstone's four geothermal landscapes. In the early 1870s, two expedition teams led by Washburn and Hayden discovered the mud volcano. They reported hearing cannon-like roars a few miles away. The mud geysers would erupt with mud, which was spectacular. But the geysers gradually calmed down and no longer erupt, but there was still geothermal, boiling water. Geothermal phenomena here include hot springs and mud pots and fumaroles. Mud volcanoes are actually just described as geothermal water, mud, steam formation of geothermal phenomenon, not real volcano, it does not have volcanic slurry.
The name mud volcano is quite apt. This is a large geothermal grunt activity area located in the lower right corner of Yellowstone Park. These areas are not colorful water in the spring pools, but also dirty mud, full of spray, and very powerful.
Because there has been a snow here, plus the active period of entering the super volcano, many roads are closed, and many scenery will not be seen in the future. The park is full of volcanic hot springs, mud springs, hot water pools, fallen dead trees, if you drive by yourself, follow the attractions on the map. Unblocked roads will not take detours, many Americans do annual cards to play.
Bubbled geothermal landscape. Mud rolling. Smelling egg in the air. So, look at the stay, not beautiful. Not good. Only stayed for ten minutes. Of course, it is necessary to see, after all, it is a magical landform on Earth.
The geothermal area of Mud Volcano, which is in the middle of the ring road linking Yellowstone Lake to the Yellowstone Canyon. Here is more special, are hot muddy hot springs and jet holes, walking on the plank road can smell the "smelly eggs" produced by hydrogen sulfide, hot springs are mud, no color.
The famous attractions of the mud volcano area are Longkou and Heilongtan. Longkou Hot Spring is named for its rhythmic steam and tongue-like flow, sounding like a snoring, but its activity has been significantly reduced since December 1994. Black Dragon Pond in 1948 caused mudslides, trees uprooted and forests covered with mud. The huge disturbance of muddy water on the side of Black Dragon Pond told people that the tail of Black Dragon would eat off its tap at any time.
