    Shiqi ・ National Designated History

    Original Text

I was interested in the pamphlet I happened to see at the roadside station and stopped by. The surrounding area is a flat land, but there is a large rock wall along the Kinu River, where Dainichi Nyorai is enshrined. The Kinugawa River and the stone Buddha match, and it makes me want to keep a close eye on it.

    Buddha carved on the quay

    Original Text

It is said that it is a statue of Dainichi Nyorai engraved on the quay. It seems that the Okunoin Gokaicho was held in 2015 for the first time in 136 years. If you look at the quay while looking at the pamphlet, you may see the Buddha. It's quite difficult, though. The Buddha on the quay is also wonderful, but the rock surface at the bottom of the Kinugawa River that flows in front of it is beautiful.

This is a spot I happened to find while driving around Tochigi Prefecture. I visited without any prior knowledge, so I didn't even imagine what it was like, but I was surprised to visit. A huge rock wall that seems to be 50 meters long appears in front of you, and a stone Buddha is drawn here. It's a so-called Makai Buddha. This Makai Buddha, which has a legend that Kobo Daishi drew overnight, is 18 meters or more high. Consider that the Kamakura Great Buddha is about 13 meters ...
