It was a shrine with a fairly long history.
７６５ It is said that it was founded in the year. The deity seems to enshrin the tenth prince of Emperor Suinin, Iwatsubetsu no Mikoto, and Emperor Keitai's real mother, Princess Furihime. This is an old shrine, and Otowa Oi Jinja shrine seems to have been a decent shrine, as it is said that the remains of the Idono shrine of this shrine, Imamiya Jinja shrine and Ota Jinja shrine in the Azumi River are the remains of the traveling place here. There are many tumuli around here, and it must have been a prosperous area in the past.
