A small temple by the side of Uji River

While we strolled along Uji River during our visit there in early April, we walked up a flight of stairs and have a look at the small temple there. There was nothing special about the place and the t...

The statue of the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva and the statue of Bishamonten are enshrined in the Kannon-do hall.

    Original Text

About 5 minutes walk from Rokujizo station. Founded as a Jingmeiji Temple at the foot of Mt. Kobata (Momoyama Hills) (year of foundation unknown). A temple of the Jodo sect. The main hall is tiled with wooden roofs. In the Kannon Do hall standing at the side of sanmon gate, there are standing statues of sho Kannon bosatsu (cultural property designated by Uji city) and bishamonten standing statues (tangible cultural properties designated by Kyoto Prefecture).

    Zhengrong Temple

A temple close to JR Rokujizo Station. According to the explanation board, it seems that it has a cultural property designated by Uji City, but the interior is not open to the public. It is not a tourist temple.

It has a valuable cultural property.

    Original Text

To that extent, go to "Shokakuin"! It is located south of JR Rokujizo. Excuse me, but the location is not along the Uji River. The head temple is Chion-in and is a temple of the Jodo sect. I couldn't go inside, but it seems that Buddha statues from the Heian and Kamakura periods are enshrined. There was an explanation with a photo at the top of the stairs.
