I did not pqrticularly want to go to Barcelona, Spain. I had a little room in the Gracia district. My friend suggested SOCO, just up the street. I was welcomed the first night, in English...my Spanish is very little. I was treated to wonderful food of good quality, carefully prepared and presented as a work of art, for a reasonable price. I returned there each night,after the opera, and was greeted as if I were an important person. Most of the patrons seemed to be people who lived in Gracia, with I the only tourist: There is outside seating, but they happily gave me a table where I could sit quietly and write my postcards. One night I was treated, with a huge grin, to a glass of the most delicious liquor I have ever tasted. As I said, a comfortable and welcoing place far from home.
