El Balcon de Cotobro

I come regularly to Balcon de Cotobro. It feels like coming home. Always a warm welcome . Perfect location at the beach in the summer. In the winter cosy inside. Great quality of food. Not the cheapest place but very reasonable for the quality. our Favourite in Almunecar.

This was a treat. Bit the cheapest restaurant but worth the extra. The Tapas starter was amazing. We ordered 2 portions between 6 of us and there was plenty to share.

My guests and I have eaten quite often at this restaurant - what is different is that most of the previous times we ate here were when the restaurant was owned by different people. The previous owners offered and delivered good quality food and wine so, I was concerned when I heard that Balcon de Cotobro was under new management. My wife and I have dined twice since the new owners were in charge of things and there is no doubt that the new owners have gone much further in their quest for catering excellence. Their dishes are different and interesting and really delicious. Both our recent visits were in mid-winter and we chose, bravely, to be seated in the outside annex, which is across the road from the building that houses the main restaurant. The attraction of the outside annex is that it is very close to the ocean - the waves and the beach are just a meter or so from one's dining table. But, diners are protected by heavy, clear, plastic curtains, offering a perfect view but with protection from the elements. Table service is prompt, friendly and efficient and the prices, though higher than what one would pay for an average meal in an average restaurant, are very good value for the quality you receive. What one pays for what one gets at Balcon de Cotobro, which is a long way ahead of average and really represents good value for money. Nice restaurant in a positive setting at the boulevard but just outside tourist area. We highly recommend it, if possible book a seat upfront at the balcony.
