Le Bistrot Saint-Jean

We were visiting my husband's mother, whom happens to live very near to La Chapelle Saint-Jean and so I took a chance and reserved a special birthday dinner for my husband and myself. We were EXTREMELY pleased with everything, from start to finish - it is truly a magnificent experience, cuisine, service and ambience was top-notch. We took the 5-course meal and I could barely finish, despite it was delicious - so, so good!!

Honestly - we found ourselves almost unable to express how absolutely wonderful this place is! It’s a beautifully restored ancient chapel alongside an equally gorgeous restored chateau (together they form a Relais & Châteaux property) and - wow - were we impressed! The restaurant menu is served in a flight with wines (and during our visit, sake too) that perfectly accompany the frankly astonishingly tasty and attractive dishes. It’s a location that only opened in 2019 and - with Covid - they are a relatively new find. We travel from Normandy to the Alps fairly regularly and will definitely be making this a stop off in the future, whenever we can. Congratulations to the whole team - kitchen and front of house - on a truly exceptional experience!

Majestic setting of the restaurant located in an old chapel and the hotel establishment in the middle of a pretty park. The chef's cuisine is always so precise and tasty. The plates are superb, the service attentive and efficient, the wine list very beautiful with great winemakers at very reasonable prices.
