Bistro Hofscheuer im Waldknechtshof

We made a reservation. This was confirmed. Yet when we arrived we were told to leave as the (empty!) terras was reservedOf course this was not a nice experience

We're regulars. The tarte flambée is always recommended, and the ambiance in the garden is beautiful. This time we ordered burgers. Venison in a fine brioche bun with good fries. Excellent. There's also a vegetarian version, and the beef burger is also very good. - Currently, there are also many delicious dishes with chanterelle mushrooms on the menu. We'll be back soon. - Recommendation: Be sure to reserve a table on weekends.

This is an old farmhouse that has clearly seen its best days and, in particular, has acquired a certain patina. The so-called "Hofscheuer" (farm barn) exudes the rustic charm of an old village inn, underscored by a constantly scurrying mouse. The restaurant is far from offering good, quality cuisine; neither the fish nor the roast beef were convincing. The salad was also mediocre, and the potato salad lacked any flavor. The value for money is definitely not there.

It's well known that there are currently staffing problems everywhere, but it only takes a few minutes to explain the basics to the young people. For example, that coffee is served on a saucer rather than a handle, that there's a wine list, that glasses and cutlery need to be adjusted... Especially since the employees seemed very open-minded to us, they were simply left alone. The food is tasteless and sometimes served with ready-made sauces. The quality at the Hofscheuer put us off going to the Meierei. What a shame.
