Otherwise, Unremarkable
We were visiting to celebrate a friend's birthday and thought it would be a good place to share a meal, have some drinks and socialize. Sorry, but despite the modest novelty of dining on 'a plaza', the food here was really (really) sub-par for a better neighborhood in a modern food city explicitly catering to visitors, local celebrants and tourists. The menu is standard fare you'd find in any golf clubhouse, hotel or large airport restaurant. (Should they be knocked-down for relying heavily on 'olde favorites'? No.) But the finishing and presentation leaves a lot (a lot) to be desired, with a "Coulda' made this at home" kind of disappointment. Meatloaf, Pot Pies and Stroganoff ring the bell for the 1960s, without a hint of throwback irony. Those narrow the menu considerably, down to a we-saw-it-on-Guy Fieri chicken and waffles, and a wedding-day-reception choice of salmon, pasta and steak. Prepare to be un-amazed. The decor is tired. Beat-up, worn down and feeling more than a little grimy. This place seems to get by on its location, and the inertia of customer optimism. It's not awful. It's just awfully middle of the road, like having dinner at a company conference at the Sheraton. Unremarkable.

The Go To in Tucson
Great buzzy destination on popular St. Philip's Plaza. One of the best pub menus we've ever seen, great happy hour with generous pours, watch sports or listen to the live performances on the Plaza. See and be seen, locals and tourists alike, more sophisticated than a university bar scene, dressed up and dressed down. Chicken and waffles and PB&J(pork belly&jicama) oh yeah.
