How can you come to Spain without visiting Salamanca, the city of gold? 
Walking through the streets of the ancient Spanish city of Salamanca, you will be greeted by a solemn and quaint atmosphere. The buildings here use a kind of stone taken from the nearby town of Villamayor, which reflects golden light under the shining sun, giving Salamanca the name of &quot;Golden City&quot;.
Come and get to know Salamanca, an open and vibrant city. You can read the vicissitudes of history from the walls of its buildings and monuments.
Life in this World Heritage city revolves around the university, which is the oldest university in Spain and the third oldest in Europe, with a history of more than eight centuries. Today, it still attracts tens of thousands of young students from all over the world to learn Spanish.
It is a wonderful thing to walk on its cobblestone streets and admire the golden tones of buildings such as the University (Universidad) and the two cathedrals (dos Catedrales).
The best starting point is the famous Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful squares in Spain. Have you got your camera ready to take pictures of the 88 colonnades and the round sculpture of Miguel de Cervantes&#39; face? Stop by for a coffee at the century-old Caf&eacute; Novelty.
