Stara picerija - Since 1977

The love of Serbians for art is deep in their bones and has not been washed away by the passage of time. Walking in Serbia, there are art bars everywhere, surreal graffiti everywhere, theaters that are performed every month, and even movies and music, which they regard as a very important part of life. In Subotica, a border city near Hungary in Serbia, there is a retro movie music coffee shop from the last century, stara picerija, which opened in 1977, the first performance of "Star Wars". Before entering the door, I was attracted by the row of chairs printed with photos of Marilyn Monroe. Walking along the path, there is a different world. A room full of old movie posters covers all the walls, old movie projectors hang on the walls, there are many collections of guitars hanging inside the restaurant, a jukebox is placed in the corner, and the musician playing the saxophone is hidden behind the whiskey. When you walk in, you think you have traveled back to the 1970s, dancing with Monroe, applying lipstick like Hepburn, and secretly listening to Elvis sing a duet. Rather than calling it a cafe, it is a collection of retro movies, a dream house for old movie enthusiasts. The prices are not cheap for such a high-style cafe. We looked at the menu and couldn't help but say, this is too cheap. In the soft time of a cup of cappuccino, savor the art of Serbia.

Subotica is only 10km away from the Schengen area and is worth a visit.
