Laureate Restaurant at Macdonald Kilhey Court

Lovely surroundings, staff, service and delicious food. Was a bit disappointed in the lunch menu choices but in the end it was all delicious. Would definitely go again.

Was charged £30 per person when it clearly states that there was a 10% discount so should have been £27 and the afternoon tea really didn’t look like the pictures online ????

Food was ok. Nicely cooked but nothing special. Service was good. The amount of flies in the restaurant was terrible. Dead flies all over the place and lots climbing up the windows to try and get out. Fly zapper is very much needed as it’s off putting when you are trying to eat. Wine was very expensive for a mediocre bottle of wine. £26 isn’t extortionate for wine if it’s nice. This was a cheap bottle of wine. Felt a bit ripped off really and not good value for money

Lovely surroundings and friendly staff but service was not very attentive once we had been served. Very hard to get staff's attention and nobody checked to see if everything was okay. A menu listing the available teas and tisanes would've also been appreciated rather than just being asked if we wanted tea or coffee. The food itself was fine.

The prawns in the prawns cocktail were rubbery and the sauce watery. It would have been nice to have had the traditional brown bread and butter accompaniment. The steak I had was rib eye, with skinny fries a mushroom, a tomato and peppercorn sauce. This was all well cooked and the steak tender apart from approximately a third of it was gristle which considering it cost £30 I felt made poor value for money. There is no menu on website so we didn't know what the choices would be but menu is limited and somewhat uninspiring.I have to say the waiting staff were lovely and helpful
