De Oude Sluis

We went to the De Oude Sluis as we had read positive reviews about the restaurant. And we have to say that we were more than positively surprised. We enjoyed our (great) dinner a lot. Kudos to the owners and the team. They deserve a compliment.

Outstanding 6 course menu, purely vegan! Hidden gem up north of the Netherlands, close to Lauwersoog. Genuine products, creative interpretation. Highly recommended.

Friendly service. I had "steak tartare" plus a tarbot (fish) which was excellently prepared. The dryest wine of their (house) wine list, a Sauvignon Blanc, was not as dry as I would have liked it, and the waiter proposed their house rosé wine which met all my wishes. The dessert was based on fresh red fruit with a bit of ice, and their espresso put me safely back on the road again.

Very nice place to eat. From the outside it looks a bit simple but as soon as you enter you are surrounded by a nice atmosphere. Service is fast and good. Could share a lot of information about the wines. We had a delicious 6 course surprise menu and each course had its own special taste. The wines are well selected to match the dishes. And that for a great price. Recommended if you are in the area or actually also if you are not in the area, just drive a little further!

Yesterday another wonderful/tasty evening at Oude Sluis. This time with 2 friends. One of us does not eat gluten, the other does not eat cheese or mushrooms. They can meet all wishes. The wines were also good and what a nice explanation. Anyway such a nice reception and service In short, we enjoyed it. Worth repeating
