The star destination in the stroll thru Sofitel Hotel's lux entry-sitting room-lounge-bar is unquestionably the Esterel (named after the Mediterranean coastal mountain/valley region of Southeastern France), where you can sit, sip, eat, talk, enjoy a musical treat, then sit some more. Unless there is a headliner's performance, hence a line of eager patrons, the atmosphere is easy, friendly and welcoming. A hamburger or veal chop or pasta is somehow unlike (oh, okay, a cut above) the famous restaurant around the corner. (Pick any corner as you are now at the intersection of L.A., West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.) Chat up your server or the captain, ask about your meal, ask for a drink suggestion, ask for directions. Take your time, you'll feel at home here.
