Place d’Armes was a former camp for soldiers, which was later rebuilt into the current Grand Square. I heard that it was built to mimic the Grand Square of Brussels, of course, which is much smaller. But nearby is a shopping mall, with many shops and restaurants, which is a place for tourists to gather.
