I had heard many good things about this place but have not had a chance to go check it out. So when a handsome gentleman asked me on a date and asked if I would like to go to The Clam for dinner I jumped at the chance. First off the restaurant is beautiful and romantic without being pretentious. There is a shimmery mother of pearl looking ceiling white table cloths and dark beautiful hardwood floors. With flowers and candles sprinkled throughout the room. Perfect date night spot, or even first date spot. Then the food comes and I want to die! Everything from the mixed spring vegetables dressed with anchovy butter to the succulent white spicy clam pizza (Which I didn&#39;t think I was going to like, but I loved it!) to the perfectly done salmon. I could not have asked for more flavor. I didn&#39;t asked for salt or pepper or any other condiments for my meal. None were needed. If your a seafood lover, or even if your not (They have a good some good non seafood items on the menu) go check this place out. It is my new fav spot in west village for sure; maybe even all of downtown. But make sure to make a reservation because it is tiny!

Great restaurant in Japan specializing in Kyushu hot pot. It was a nightmare to get its hospitality, but he recently expanded to nearby places so it was easy to go for a meal. If you are here for the first time, I recommend you try the menu as it is reasonably priced and offers a variety of food. I love the grilled pork belly, foie gras rice lotus sushi, soft shell crab and of course the hot pot here. They offer different kinds. My favorite is the white collagen one, very delicious! No doubt it gives you better skin by making you fatter! Great home-cooked dishes, delicious Japanese cuisine!

We booked this restaurant a month in advance on Open Table. I highly recommend that you do the same, make an appointment in advance. The dining area is modern and comfortable (only 4 tables, 8 or 9, plus a 6-seat bar). We booked at 6pm and it was 5.40pm when we arrived. If you are going in winter, I highly recommend going early as the table near the door often has cold wind blowing in. Hot pot with pork, chicken and dumplings is great and tastes very good. Most of the guests here are young Asian workers - super super popular.
