The magical Underground Kingdom World Heritage Site, Willichika Salt Mine, is located in a town 17 kilometers away from Krakow. It is a world of salt, churches, restaurants and sanatoriums. Everything is made of salt, with salt flowers hanging on the top and salt ores on the ground. The seemingly ordinary salt of today was indeed as precious as gold in medieval Europe, and the prosperity of medieval Poland was bestowed by Beverichka. 53 wooden stairs are needed to go down the mine, and the passage is supported by dense wooden pillars.
