I had read some mixed reviews on this restaurant and wasn't sure what to expect. Our meal was excellent. We all ordered different things and everything was delicious. We had the four course meal. The service was great, as good as the wine pairings we had. It was one of the best meals I've ever had, and the service was top shelf.
My wife and I went here for our 42 anniversary. We wanted a special meal but the food, service and environment was exceptional. Adam our waiter made us feel special and the entire staff pitched it to make the service top shelf!!! Have the octopus appetizer even if you never had it you will fall in love. Not to mention the sea bass entrée was to die for. The bar started us out with two top shelf Cosmopolitans. Then Adam brought us tastings if a Rhone blend and the house Cab. Tastings for a glass of wine selection. Wow. The only venting was fabulous. Not cheap but the food, service and facility made it worth every nickel!
My wife and I had dinner at The Krebs tonight. We expected a spectacular experience and were disappointed in all ways. The evening was to start with drinks on the porch. We waited over 20 minutes for our two cocktails to arrive. We arrived at The Krebs at 645 pm. We proceeded to dinner. Dining room is remarkably noisy. Sound bounces all over the place. We waited then 30 minutes for order to be taken and for sommelier to assist with wine. Bread which was excellent finally showed. We had for first plate a cheese board and mussels; both were very good. The sommelier suggested a 2011 Côte Rote which Cellar Tracker rated 89.5 and which was sold to us for $150. CT was generous in their rating. I expected for the price point that the sommelier would have found something interesting and beyond average. We both ordered grilled beef AKA tenderloin. My wife's piece was undercooked; she ordered medium. Meat was pretty tasteless and a bit chewy for tenderloin. We had shortcake shared for dessert. It was the best part of the dinner. We needed to pour our own wine. No server came to refresh glasses from the decanter. We waited 30 minutes for the tip. Bill with tax and tip was $350. Our server Adam was apologetic for the bad service. The place is beautifully appointed. I do hope they get their act together. Until then, beware that you may be woefully disappointed.
