Town of Spiez Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Spiez, a small town in Switzerland, is a paradise on earth by Lake Thun!
In Switzerland, the most typical settlements are in the lush Alps and small towns by the blue lakes, such as Spiez on Lake Thun. Once you arrive in this historic town with charming lake and mountain views, you'll understand why so many people want to live in Switzerland.
Spiez is close to Interlaken and Bern, well-known travel destinations in Switzerland. It takes just over 10 to 20 minutes by train from Interlaken. Swiss trains are very punctual, almost to the minute. Spiez train station is built on a high ground by Lake Thun, and the small platform outside the train is the best place to overlook Spiez.
Follow the path all the way down, and you will reach the center of Spiez. The town is nestled against the mountains and by the water, with fresh air. There is also a small pasture with lush green grass in the town, where a group of goats are leisurely grazing.
The most conspicuous landmark building in Spiez is the Spiez Castle, which was built in 1200 (during the Southern Song Dynasty in China) and has a history of over 800 years. The castle was originally the residence of the Bernese governor, close to Lake Thun with unbeatable views. Now it has been converted into a small museum. Interestingly, this castle was never intended for defense against enemies, but was simply the residence of the local governor, so there are no high walls around it. Instead, a circle of grapes has been planted. There is also a wine cellar in the castle, and there are many vineyards on the slopes around the town, suggesting that this place also produces fine wines.
Looking down from Spiez Castle, you can see a tranquil lake and mountain view - this is a typical Swiss town scenery, quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and time is peaceful. No wonder so many people want to move here!
Spiez is located on the shore of Lake Thun, the 'left eye of God'. There are many sailboats and speedboats docked at the town's pier. Spiez represents the affluent lifestyle of the Swiss, with every household having flowers, grass, a small courtyard, and a yacht.
The lakeside is full of lush grass and shaded trees, and it's a pleasure to take a leisurely walk here.
The residents of Spiez also live a leisurely and comfortable life. We ran into a father and son who got up early and their gentle dog. The little boy has blond hair and a dazed expression, and his father takes him for a walk in the stroller.
In Spiez, every shot is a beautiful view. We went there in the early morning, just after a rain had stopped. The air was moist and fresh, the surroundings were quiet, the lake was gentle, and this is what paradise on earth must be like.

The small town of Spiez, Switzerland: met in the rainy morning
Early in the morning, take a train from Interlaken to Bern, and stop at the town of Spiez on the way. The Spiez train station is located on the top of the mountain with a great view. You can overlook the whole town as soon as you get off the train.
Spiez is located more than 30 kilometers southeast of the Bernese Highlands in Switzerland, on the shore of a bay on the south bank of Lake Thun, at an altitude of 628 meters, belonging to the Bernese Plateau. Here, the water is as clear as a mirror, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, and the air is fresh. It is a famous health and water sports resort in Switzerland. The main body of the town is backed by the continuous Alps, and it has a large area of vineyards. The lake surface, as clear as a jade, is filled with sailboats and yachts of all sizes. On clear days, you can even see the reflection of distant snow-capped mountains.
The town is built along the mountain slope and is a lively residential town. We spent two hours wandering around the town, and then had a cup of coffee with the locals on a rainy morning while having breakfast to warm ourselves up.
📝Attention tips:
Spiez train station is located at the highest point of the entire town. If you are not staying in the town and have luggage with you, please be sure to store your luggage before going down to play.

Spiez Castle Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
My forever daydream train ride in Swizerland
Golden Pass Line en route to Montreux from Spiez via Meiqianbao. This scenary in Switzerland will never escape my fond memories of its country's peacefulness and natural beauty. A bucket list fulfilled🙂☝️👍👍
Schloss Spiez is located on the lakeside and was built in 1200. It is a medieval tourist attraction in Switzerland and is free to visit with SP. The exterior of the castle is of medieval Bernese style, and the interior is decorated with art forms such as Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. It is simple and elegant and is one of the few monuments in Switzerland. The castle was once the summer residence of the Berne consul, so unlike other ancient cities in Europe, there is no facility to protect the enemy, and the main function is to live. The underground of the castle also replaced the jail of prisoners with wine. At the southern end of the beautiful castle garden is a small church built in 762 AD, with the early Roman style of Bern. The Spiez Castle has been publicly owned since 1929 and is managed by a dedicated foundation and is now open to the public as an art gallery. The exhibits in the museum are the relics of the masters of the castle and the ancient furniture. I heard that there are classical concerts held every summer to attract tourists from all over the world. There is a spacious banquet room in the castle
, which has a variety of Baroque-style daily displays and furniture. After the inquiry, it was known that someone had booked a place in the castle and was ready to have lunch here. Looking at the arrangement on the table, it was like the time shuttle, which reminded me of the scenes of the European royal banquet in the movie.

The castle itself is not big, there are only three floors, one of which is the ticket office and the parcel office. The second floor is the scene of the life of the second Bubenberg family, and people made it four hundred years ago. The scene of the meal. The third floor is the third family of the von Ehlach family who introduced the castle. In addition to the main living area, you can follow the stairs to the top of the observation tower, where the view is not inferior to the train station.

Tips:
1, visit the castle and carry the backpack with the back on the bottom. The place where the backpack is stored is like the original underground warehouse. The parcel requires coins, but the coins will be returned to you (1CHF).
2, the staff at the ticket office specially cares for the room in the castle when selling tickets. It is not allowed to take pictures. It is possible to take pictures outside the window, but in the castle, many people still take pictures with their cameras. I hope that everyone can consciously abide by the regulations.

Bahnhofstrasse Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Zurich Bahnhofstrasse, Switzerland
Bahnhofstrasse is Zürich's main downtown street and one of the world's most expensive and exclusive shopping avenues. In 2011, a study named the Bahnhofstrasse the most expensive street for retail property in Europe, and the third most expensive worldwide. In 2016, the street ranked ninth. It came into existence when the city fortifications were demolished in 1864 and the ditch in front of the walls was filled in. Until that time, the name of the location had been Fröschengraben ("Ditch Of The Frogs"), which then was changed to Bahnhofstrasse ("Railway Station Street").
Bahnhofstrasse
Shopping becomes more interesting if you have a lake on the side for fresh breeze and amazing view. Bahnhofstrasse is a spectacular shopping mall, which connects Lake Zurich with the Main Railway Station. The mall encompasses all sorts of boutiques, department stores and timepiece stores and is always worth a visit. Also, you can enjoy some wine while roaming around the lake and having a nice time. So, get on your shoes and get going!! Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike! 😊

Please take me back to Zürich in 2024!
Zurich's main station is a bustling nexus where efficiency meets architectural grandeur. A symphony of trains converges beneath the impressive arched roof, seamlessly connecting Switzerland's diverse landscapes. The station's vibrant ambiance extends beyond travel – luxury boutiques, eateries, and a bustling underground mall create a microcosm of urban life. The clock tower, adorned with its iconic giant clock, is a meeting point amid the constant motion. Commuters and tourists blend in the lively hum, embodying Zurich's dynamic spirit. This transit hub transcends its utilitarian purpose, becoming a vibrant crossroads where Swiss precision meets a pulsating cosmopolitan energy.
I wish one of the train can take be back to this amazing city in 2024!

Jungfrau Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
I see trees of green ♪
Beautiful alpine village nestled in the mountains with an amazing view of the Jungfrau valley and Lauterbrunnen down below. Taking the train up to Wengen will guarantee you a lovely view of Lauterbrunnen.
The village has shops, attractions and amenities within walking distance. Though, if you do decide to get a resort/hotel further up, be sure to ask for shuttle cars, the upwards slopes are no joke.
Our hotel had a lovely view of the cable car rides up to Männlichen, the street below and at night- if you’re willing to stand in the 14 degrees cold (even in summer) you can get a good picture of the night sky!
Of course, we couldn’t stay in Wengen without visiting Männlichen and her famous Royal Walk- a short hike of 1.7km, with elevations up to 80-120m up/down, grants you a truly breathtaking panoramic view. ((the gravel paths can be a bit slippery so be careful on the way down))
The trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg was an overall downhill walk with a view of Grindelwald down below and the snow capped mountains. But before you embark on this trail be sure to either get something to eat or drink (and the WC of course) at Männlichen as it is quite a long walk (about 4.7km). Near the midpoint you can see Eiger! A truly memorable walk with amazing scenery of the town below and mountains all around us.
Truly a scenic paradise with plenty of activities to do, whether you prefer to simply enjoy the views or try out some of their more thrilling activities. It was my first time visiting Switzerland but certainly won’t be the last!#switzerland #summervacation #nature #alps

Jungfrau | Top of Europe !!!! 🇨🇭
How to get there: There are 2 ways to go up Jungfrau: 1) By the Cable Car (Eiger Express) or 2) By train. We went up by the eiger express (from Grindelswald, interchanging at Terminal), and we came down by train.
Before we went up, we contemplated of joining a tour but given we have done a fair share of research, I ended up going by ourselves.
There are several viewing sites, which ofc include Jungfrau itself, ice palace, exhibition of history of the site construction of Jungfrau, and Lindlt chocolate museum.
It was negative 18 degree celsius on Jungfrau!!! So for those who cannot handle the cold, don’t visit during the winter 😂😂😂
Despite the weather condition was not ideal (no blue sky😣) but i guess it is as expected because we went during the winter ❄️)
Pro tip: I would recommend purchasing the swiss pass as you get discount for the jungfrau ticket and free transport within Switzerland!!

Grindelwald: A crime if you miss it!
Get here by train! We came via Basel and just enjoyed the scenic views from the huge train windows. Lake, villages, mountains, you won’t want to close your eyes!
Coming here in early autumn, we escaped the crowds and could explore First, Eiger, and Jungfraujoch with ease and little wait time. The mountains are magnificent all thru the year! The colours of the landscape will change and hiking to the Balchapsee is an experience in itself. Discovering WCs in the middle of nowhere, up
in the mountains, complete with toilet tissue is something only the Swiss can guarantee!
There are many hotels in this little village and all are within walking distance of the train station. We stayed at the Eiger Aparthotel as we wanted to prepare our own meals to save cost. Bookings come with daily afternoon tea and the variety of cakes, teas and coffees were an absolute treat!
There are many cafes around for fondue and all sorts of local delights. We opted to explore the two supermarkets for raw ingredients and cooked up our own dinners at a fraction of the cost of eating out. Do check out the different yogurt flavours, types of cheese, and cured meats too!
As it is a tourist destination, you can get souvenirs and major brands here. There is a post office (to send postcards) and some banks if you need forex.
My #2023travelwish is to drop by this beautiful place again in the SUMMER and take in the wonders of creation ❤️

Interlaken, charming village in Switzerland!
#2023travelwish
My most unforgettable vacation destination was Interlaken; a charming village beneath of Jungfrau, Switzerland. Surrounded by mountains and nature beauty, sits between the emerald-coloured waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, it has old timber houses and parkland on either side of the Aare River, truly a beatiful and picturesque holiday destination.
Interlaken is also a hotspot for paragliding, hiking and sightseers alike, and the gateway to exploring the Jungfrau region.
My 2023 dream destination would be Kyoto, Japan for stunning Autumn leaves.🍁
