Ancient Trees and Golden-Red Leaves at Fragrant Hills Park

Ancient Trees and Golden-Red Leaves at Fragrant Hills Park

󰺂6.7
Xiangshan Park can be considered the originator of maple viewing in China. Its red leaves are famous both at home and abroad, and it is also one of the four major maple viewing spots in the country. Every fall at Beijing's Xiangshan Park, the smoke tree leaves all over the mountains turn as red as fire, and after the frost, they turn a deep purplish-red. These smoke trees were planted during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. After more than 200 years of growth, they have gradually formed a forest area with 94,000 smoke trees. Looking out, the distant mountains and nearby slopes are a tapestry of bright red, pink, scarlet, and peach, with distinct layers. In the rustling fall wind, it's as if red clouds are surging over, making the whole mountain seem to sway. With pine and cypress trees dotted in between, the mix of red and green creates a magnificent and splendid scene.
