Small falls but picturesque walk to them
Very picturesque walk from the carpark to the falls The falls are only small with a limited amount of water but would be an interesting site when lots of water is in the area
It's famous as a frozen waterfall, but it wasn't good in summer. The head flows from a very high place, but the amount of water was less than I expected. Above all, I have to walk quite a bit from the parking lot, so it's hot in summer and I can't stop sweating. I hope there is a parking lot a little closer. Today, I was more impressed to find JR that I happened to pass by than a waterfall.
I'm surprised that you can also make a wonderful icefall in Aso.

It's not worth seeing because it's a waterfall without waterfalls in midwinter. I think it will be around 1 ~ February to become an icefall. It seems that the cold north wind blowing to Aso freezes the waterfall. There is a well-maintained promenade from the parking lot to the waterfall, but I think you can go safely if you have shoes or chain spikes that are easy to walk because they slip.
From National Highway 265, I followed the information board and ran on a narrow road and arrived at a parking lot where no one had stopped. It is about 700m away from here to the waterfall. Most of them are narrow slopes up, so I needed a break on the way. Arrived at the waterfall in about 10 minutes. The amount of water flowing through the waterfall was small, probably due to the continued fine weather and high temperatures this summer. It's a pity that it doesn't look good even though I sweated.
When I heard that I could see frozen waterfalls when I came in winter, I thought, "The waterfalls don't freeze in Kyushu," but when I actually went there, they were frozen. This area is a region with a lot of spring water, and it freezes little by little, and it seems to look like a big waterfall in midwinter. From the parking lot to the waterfall, there are about 600 m and it is a climb. We recommend going with easy-to-walk shoes.

I think you should see it in winter.
