Castles

The Bluff Castle, located on the England/Scottish border, was built in 1092 by King William II of England to block access to the Pennine Mountains. But the original wooden-grid castle was destroyed during the Great Rebellion of Scotland in 1174. After the war, the castle was rebuilt in stone. The Norman nobleman Clifford family owned the castle in the 1260s. Baron X Clifford made a big feast at Christmas in 1521, but the joy was tragic - the next day the fire burned the castle. After the restoration of the castle, several fires finally turned a prosperous noble house into a ruined wall. In 1921, the descendants of the Clifford family donated the ruined castle to the English Heritage Foundation and opened it to the public. There was no one on duty and the visit was free. There were no other tourists on the day we went, only a few sheep leisurely grazing on the grass outside the castle.

Kasik is a Victorian town, the largest town in the north of the Lake District, and it is the birthplace of the world's first graphite pencils. The weather was very good that day, tourists were everywhere in the town, and the town became very lively.

The wisdom of Emperor Hadrian was due to his inclination to do nothing in the course of his 21 years in power, but to devote all his energy to the development of the empire. His diligence was due to the fact that the emperor had traveled almost the entire territory of imperial rule. Hadrian's Wall was built entirely because he felt the threat of the Scottish Celtic after he arrived in England, and it took six years to mobilize three legions, from 122 to 127, to complete a 73-mile fortification.

From Durham by car north, to Newcastle, compared to Durham Village, Newcastle is a big city, at Durham Railway Station, I also saw several students who went to Newcastle to eat, the train arrived in about ten minutes. Here I actually saw the wall, the Great Wall of Hadrian, in fact, this is the northernmost border of the Roman Empire's British province, and there is a similar work with China's wall, which is to defend against the northern invasion. Along the Tyne River from west to east is the entrance to the sea. The King of England built castles, made of wooden spires and earthen exterior walls. The new castle is the source of Newcastle's name.

Lei Castle (Wray Castle) is a Victorian neo-Gothic building on the west bank of Windermere Lake District. It is also the docking port of Windermere Lake cruise ships. The land includes part of the Windermere coastline, open year-round and is known for its selected specimen trees - Weilintong, mahogany, ginkgo, lime and various beech. We bought it because of freedom of the lake. Every pier to see. No disembark here. Shoot the exterior.

In the morning there is a guided tour of the house with free access during opening hours. There are many rooms with some excellent furniture and artwork to see, the room guide is very helpful, the wood panelled rooms are breathtaking. When weather permits, you can go for a picnic in the garden.

Lauser Castle is a beautiful manor house in the Lake District of England. It was built by John Lowther in the 17th century, so it was named. The castle and garden were once abandoned and opened to the public after being rebuilt in 2000. The flowers here are particularly beautiful and suitable for taking pictures! The staff is also more warm and friendly, and will take the initiative to introduce the history of the castle ~

Rayby Castle Garden was much bigger than expected and there was a large factory sale activity there on the day we visited. There were lots of seats in the walled garden and the cafe seats were limited. Visits in different seasons will have different flowers to enjoy.
