It is a temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, which is more famous for its name "Ishio Daishi" than Koboji Temple. My favorite is the huge stone statue of Nio in front of the mountain gate. It is a wonderful stone statue with a powerful shape. Also, although you need to climb a considerable slope, the huge stone "Shirai Kannon Bodhisattva statue" standing on the hillside behind the temple is also magnificent and is about the size that you can see from the road in front of the mountain gate.
