Interestingly worth $5 to get in and see. Canyon Park has my vote and expects 80 acres of waterfalls. Monrovia Canyon Park is a small, 80 acres park just off the border of the Los Angeles National Forest at the foot of Mount San Gabriel. Check the 147-foot-tall Sawpit dam, built in 1927 (flood control dam), but engineers found the foundation under the dam was too weak to hold the water of its design. The reservoir behind it was never fully loaded because it would not withstand earthquakes. As a result, DPW - the Department of Public Works - cut it into a free-flowing waterfall. Worth a visit, the view of the hiking trail is great.
