📍Gyeongbokgung Palace Seoul , Korea It is the largest and most striking of the 5 grand palaces built during the Joseon dynasty. Built in 1395 by King Taejo, this iconic landmark lets you experience life in Joseon-era Korea via free guided tours, re-enactments of royal rituals, and extensive displays of artifacts and period costumes. 💰Free entry if wearing hanbok 3000 won (adult) 1500 won (child) ⏰Wednesday- Monday 9am-6pm Closed on Tuesdays Closing time is earlier on some months Check before going Recommended time to go around 1.5hrs I did at 1 hr because July is too hot to walk around. Best If spring or Autumn. You can rent your hanbok for longer time or 1 day to go around different places. Overall: - This was a truly stunning sight to see. Gyeonbokgung Palace is located in northern Seoul and was built in 1395. The architecture here was overwhelmingly beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in South Korea. What To Do: - The changing of the guards was an incredible sight to see and happens every hour from 10:00 15:00 in the main courtyard in front of the palace. - Walking through the palace took us a little over one hour as we spent time to look at each building. The colors and variety were impressive and there were small animal statues located inbetween some of the buildings. - If you are interested, you can rent a traditional Hanbok dress from a shop located just outside the East entrance of the palace. Rental is about $15 USD for two hours. We visited in 2019 and it was so fun to see people from around the world in the shop learning about the dresses and walking through the palace in them. #koreatrip It was our first time in Korea, and having our pictures taken around Gyeongbokgung Palace was on our bucket list. There were many hanbok rental places near the palace, all offering similar prices with varying services. I chose Gigibebe Hanbok, opting for their special hanbok package with hairstyling. The process was simple and straightforward, and the staff were friendly. There's a toilet in the store, and I recommend using it before putting on the hanbok. Also, wear a skin-colored singlet and heat-tech tights underneath; I was freezing because the skirt was thinner and more exposed than I expected, especially in strong winds. We ended up following a soon-to-be-married couple around during their photoshoot to find good spots for our own photos. Unfortunately, unlike tourist spots in Japan, there are no photo stands available around the castle, making it challenging to get good photos together. The palace is quite large, and people are well spread out, so it was difficult to find someone who could take a decent photo for us. What I would have done differently is to engage a personal photographer for a mini photoshoot. It'll costs about $80-100 per person, which is quite reasonable for quality memories.

I Visited Korea recently and it was HEAVEN!!!!! I went to Seoul and Busan to visit the many famous historical landmarks and attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, N Seoul Tower, Bukchon Hanok Village, Gamcheon Cultural Village, Haeundae beach and many more!!!! And how can you visit Korea without eating their variety of delicious foods 😋😍. As I am a big foodie, I visited the famous food markets such as Gwangjang Market, namdaemun market and Myeongdong market and tried many of their food sold such as gimbap, tteokbokki, kalguksu, mandu and many more as shown in the pictures. Just thinking about the food is making my mouth watering again 😭😭😭. If you're also into facial products like me, remember to check out olive young for they affordable and wide variety of products! They are everywhere so it is easy to buy things that you have forgotten or last minute want to buy. The people there are also extremely friendly from my experience. Personally, the most beautiful place to visit in spring and autumn is Gyeongbokgung Palace! (Even though it's pretty when it snows in winter... but it's cold... shivering...) In the spring, there are lots of pretty flowers 🌷 and in the autumn, it's a hot spot for viewing the fall foliage 🍁. It's amazing that you can enter for free if you visit wearing a Hanbok, and with the beautiful scenery and cultural heritage, you'll feel sorry for entering for free. During the nice weather of spring and autumn, there are a lot of people even on weekdays, but since the space is wide, there is no major inconvenience, hehe. This is the number one spot that I want to take my foreign friends when they come to visit 🫶🏻. So, come here with your family, lover, or friends to take a memorable picture.

Gyeongbok Palace is the largest palace of all five grand palaces of Joseon dynasty, and it has also been got the attention from tourists the most. It looks as gorgeous palace, but who would have thought this palace once got terribly traumatized. I think you should know this before visiting as this is one of the palace’s backgrounds. It is about the death of a praised queen of Joseon. In late 1895, Queen Myeongseong, who had been trying to develop the country and to survive from foreign invasion, had been assassinated by Japanese killers in her residence where has been a hall in the Gyeongbok. This hall is Gonnyeonfhap (pic 3-5). The reason why she was assassinated was because she operated the policies against Japan who was trying to colonize Korea. This act of Japan caused all Korean subjects enraged them. This was so sad. Anyway, Korea was finally annexed by Japan in 1910. Gyeongbokgung in Korean means “The Palace of Shining Blessings”, but it really contraries to this traumatic incident occurred in the palace. Gyeongbokgung is the place where you can’t miss out when visiting Seoul as it is beautiful and fine with valuable Joseon architecture. There are many palaces in Seoul to explore. If you come to Seoul during autumn, I would highly recommend to visit Gyeongbokgung. Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung was the home of Joseon kings and their household and also the headquarter of the government. The whole compound is huge with Mount Bugak situated right behind the palace. Like all other palaces in South Korea, this palace looks magnificent in autumn. I like the charms and the calm of the season adding to the majestic palace. It is also the locals’ favourite as I spotted some of them donned the traditional hanbok for photo taking here. #fallingforfall
