It is the best starting point for a tour of Melbourne, within a hundred miles of the train station, close to cafes, art galleries, cinema arcades, ancient trees along the way, walking on the lawn, and a short walk to the Royal Botanic Garden.

An iconic landmark, built at a time when Melbourne was one of the richest cities in the world due to nearby gold mining. The station mostly caters towards local suburbs rather than longer distances, but worth taking a look anyway.
