Check-in was quite inconvenient as we had to walk 10 minutes there and back just to pick up the key. We had previously told customer service that it would be difficult for us to walk that far to return the key to the mailbox, and they said we could leave it inside the unit. However, at check-out, they suddenly said we couldn't, and their attitude was very unyielding.
Although the environment was quite nice and the unit itself was spacious and clean, it still left a bad impression. The swimming pool was very dirty, and the parking area on the 3rd floor was quite dim and felt dangerous.

I had a wonderful stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and very professional. The check-in process was smooth, and the famous warm DoubleTree cookie made the arrival even more pleasant.
The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and the well-maintained facilities. The housekeeping team did a great job keeping everything spotless.
The hotel location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby shopping malls, restaurants, and the CIQ checkpoint. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of options and the food quality was excellent.
Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru to anyone visiting Johor Bahru and look forward to staying here again in the future

Service was very good, friendly and helpful front desk/reservation office. I had a request as it was my son's actual birthday on the date we checked in and the hotel kindly arranged for a complimentary slice of cake. The hotel itself is a bit dated but rooms were clean and spacious. We had 2 smoking rooms on the 13th floor which had a nice view. The AC worked well, the bed was comfortable and the fridge did cool our drinks. Usual toiletries were provided, no hand towels though. Water pressure was alright but you may need to request for a bathtub stopper (if needed) as this was missing from both our rooms. TV channels were a bit spotty, in one room all movie channels were grainy and in the other room it was actually worse, could only see a few local channels. Wi-fi signal was strong. Power points were far from bedside which is to me a major drawback as I could not charge my devices conveniently next to the bed. In one room, one of the power points did not work and we had to use the kettle power point as the other was underneath the vanity table. We didn't bother to call maintenance as we were only there for one night.
Location was good, it's not in the city itself but not very far, maybe 10-15 mins by Grab. There's quite a few food outlets nearby if you're willing to walk out of the property. It's also attached to a mall but I think the duty free outlet was being renovated. We didn't really walk around the mall so can't comment. Seems a bit limited though. There's a 7-11 downstairs at the hotel itself for any snack emergencies. Lots of clubs and nightlife immediately outside the hotel but it didn't really interfere with hotel guests so that's fine. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming but wasn't terrible. There was no live egg station which is always a disappointment as the pre-prepared eggs became rather dry and unappealing. I saw bread and butter pudding tag which I thought was a nice, however it was not replenished while I was there so couldn't try. Overall, I guess it's alright for the price point.

To be honest, it felt pretty average, but it was very cheap and close to the Woodlands checkpoint. However, locals told me this area isn't very safe, though there's a security guard downstairs, so outsiders can't get in. The 'hotel' is actually an apartment, and you have to pick up the keys yourself from a designated location – it's fully self-service. There's a durian stall nearby that's cheap and tasty. The hairdryer didn't work well; it couldn't plug into the socket. The hygiene was mediocre; the bedding felt damp and was very wrinkled, almost like it had been used by someone else, sprayed with water, smoothed out, and then given to the next guest. The overall cleanliness was really subpar.

The location is great, right opposite Legoland, and there's a supermarket and convenience store downstairs. However, the hotel's own restaurant closes very early, and the breakfast selection is quite limited. Among all the Ascott properties I've stayed at, this one offered the most basic experience – a 'super stripped-down' version. There was no laundry detergent above the washing machine, no umbrella or bathrobes in the wardrobe, and no information booklet. The cleanliness was also subpar; it wasn't clean under the sofa or the bed, and there was even a stray slipper.

The 3-bedroom is an exclusive unit, well equipped with microwave, big fridge, cooking utensils, good WiFi and huge TV. We really enjoyed our stay at this apartment as the check in process was seamless and the host is very friendly and attentive. The location is very ideal and there are numerous restaurants nearby. She has prepared the apartment with great care and we would love to return to this apartment as and when we are in Johor Bahru.

I recently stayed at Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort Desaru and overall, it was a peaceful and relaxing getaway.
The resort has a calm kampung-style modern vibe, perfect if you’re looking for a short escape from the city. The room was spacious and clean, with a cozy design and a balcony where you can enjoy the sea breeze. Waking up to the sound of the waves was definitely the highlight.
The infinity pool facing the beach is beautiful, especially during sunset. The beach itself feels quite private and is nice for a morning walk. It may not have crystal-clear water, but it’s still a great spot to unwind and slow down.
The room quite spacious. Toilet clean and big. Seaview balcony. Only thing the curtains and bed had white insects I don’t what does it called. TV available but we cannot use because not enough battery. No line, very slow , used WiFi but not too strong .We had out dinner in hotel, does not worth for the price. Ordered Nasi goreng kampung but it’s not enough and spicy and the soup taste like water.

GGuest UserThe room lighting was quite dim, and the fragrance in the room was very strong — something to keep in mind as not everyone may like it. Breakfast was alright; the roti prata was decent, but the rest of the dishes were around a 2/5 for me.
GGuest UserI booked this resort for the beach & sunrise.
Location is good due to it has nice & clean beach with lots of hermit crabs. Caught a nice sunrise early in the morning as well.
I booked a 2 bedroom apartment. The resort may look outdated but the room is clean, swimming pool & water park are well maintained.
Parking is easy.
The resort has beautiful peacocks (white and colourful).
Breakfast spread is good. Staff are friendly and helpful.
We managed to buy some simpler fireworks at the town. We checked with the staff. The staff was kind to bring us to a nice spot to light up the fireworks in a safe way.
