Halloween Camp 2024 Tuesday, October 29th - Friday, November 1st Normal day: 9.30- 3.30pm. Pre/Post Camp: For an additional cost you can enroll in our pre and post camp, parents can drop off children no earlier than 8.45am and pick up no later than 4.15pm. About Camp The camp is suitable for 4-12 year olds, and is then further subdivided into 4-6 year olds and 7-12 year olds in order to schedule age appropriate activities. We offer a range of activities for the children, from ball sports such as basketball, volleyball and football, to relay races and obstacle courses, daily arts and crafts sessions and of course a swimming* session everyday! *If a child requires help changing, a parent/guardian must be present to help - Changing rooms at 2:15 pm to change and 3:00 pm when leaving the pool. Swan Leisure Sports Camps operate its normal day 9.30- 3.30pm. Parents may drop off and pick up their children within 10 minutes of the start and finish of the camp. Parents are requested to be punctual as the Leisure Centre is not responsible for children outside camp times. For an additional cost you can enroll in our pre and post camp, parents can drop off children no earlier than 8.45am and pick up no later than 4.15pm. This could be the first, and last, chance. Dry Run anticipates that all organisers, artworks and performers are/will be in some way struggling with their 'role', intentionally or otherwise, as this is not the real thing. The club was born out of a desire to create or revive platforms, spaces and resources to promote convivial, supportive, discursive and critical situations. 1 day MagicQ training course The MagicQ basic training course covers the use of all MagicQ products including our range of PC Wings and MagicQ consoles. The course covers starting new shows from scratch, layouts, patching, recording and editing cues, cue lists and chases, FX programming. The courses is suitable for all skill levels, but suited more to those starting out with MagicQ. Experienced users can pick up new tips and tricks. Set up for training is two people per console using ChamSys MagicVis for visualisation. Course Details Cost €41.67 (+ VAT €50) Includes- A MagicQ Basic DMX dongle, ChamSys USB key, training guide and lunch. The course runs from 10:00 to 16:00. If you book the basic AND the intermediate training under two consecutive days (2 days next to one another) then you'll receive a MagicDMX FULL dongle instead of the MagicDMX Basic (worth €85!) This workshop is designed for individuals who have completed Safeguarding 1 and are interested in becoming a Children's Officer. The Club Children's Officer plays a crucial role in implementing best practices within the club and ensuring the welfare and protection of children. To be eligible for the Club Children's Officer position, candidates must have already completed the Safeguarding 1 (Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop) and are encouraged to participate in the new Club Children's Officer 3-hour workshop. By completing this course, individuals will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively carry out their responsibilities as a Club Children's Officer. Participants of the workshop will receive a Club Children's Officer Action Planning document that will aid them in fulfilling their role in the club. Additionally, the workshop will cover the implementation of the Sport Ireland Code, which has been widely adopted by governing bodies, clubs, and community groups since 2000. The adoption of this code ensures the protection and well-being of young people involved in sports. The workshop will take place online through Zoom, and participants will receive the necessary materials and a Zoom link a few days before the event. Participants can look forward to an exciting competition where the winner will earn the opportunity to represent Ireland at the 2025 Catan World Championships and the 2026 Catan European Championships. Ready To Go Orienteering (RTGO) Course Ready To Go Orienteering (RTGO) course trains and equips primary and post-primary school teachers, youth leaders, scout leaders, camp providers etc with the skills and ability to teach the fundamentals of the sport to beginners and young people, whilst providing them with the necessary resources to do this. RTGO teaches you how to: Introduce pupils and young people to the basic skills of orienteering in a fun and exciting way.Identify where orienteering can be introduced to your school curriculum or group activities.Use games and activities that progress pupils and young people from classroom lessons to participating in simple orienteering competitions and events.Prepare your pupils or group to participate in schools orienteering events in public parks and other orienteering fixtures in your area.Participants are provided with a resource pack including games cards, sample maps and controls, with further equipment available to purchase. Educational resources are also provided online, which can be downloaded and printed. DEIS schools participating in the 'Ready to Go Orienteering' training can receive a customised orienteering map of their school grounds at a nominal cost. The Colombian writer and historian Javier Ortiz Cassiani and the Nigerian-Irish poet Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi will discuss silenced memories and their representation in literature. This conversation aims to acknowledge the importance of unveiling diverse realities and revitalizing voices that have been obscured by history. Moderated by Prof. Omar García (Trinity College Centre). Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi is a writer, editor, and cultural consultant based in Wicklow, Ireland. She is a commissioned poet on the Poetry as Commemoration project, an initiative of the Irish Poetry Reading Archive at UCD Library. Her work is published in The Art of the Glimpse anthology, and she co-edited the Writing Home: The 'New Irish' Poets anthology. Javier Ortiz Cassiani ia a Colombian author and historian by the University of Los Andes. He has published the books El incómodo color de la memoria , Un diablo al que llaman tren and Bailar con las trompetas del apocalipsis . His interests revolve about memory, discourse, representation, popular culture and historical paradoxes. Prof. Omar García is a Hispanist who studies both Latin America & Spain, and a Comparatist, a published, award-winning poet and a human rights activist. He is Head of the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies at Trinity College Dublin; 1926 Chair of Spanish and Director of the Centre for Global Intercultural Communications. Justine has been based at UCD’s Creative Futures Academy and in the College of Arts and Humanities through the generous support of Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council’s Arts Office. In conversation with Dr. Victoria Durrer (School of Art History and Cultural Policy), meet Justine and connect with her experiences during her time as the 2024 UCD Trapdoor dance artist in residence. Dance artist, choreographer and creative producer, Justine Doswell has worked with numerous notable Irish and international choreographers, directors and companies. Inspired by dynamic structure and living systems, she is an Arts Council Next Generation 2021 recipient and 2021-23 Irish Modern Dance Theatre (IMDT) Associate Artist.
