**We recommend booking direct via thecomedyrooms.co.uk to avoid inflated fees.** Join us for a night of fun and laughter. Tickets start from just £11.50 each for a group of 4! The line-up includes: Mike Gunn Mike Gunn’s history is as interesting and entertaining as his comedy. A misspent youth and a series of grim jobs cultivated his cynical outlook on life and a perverse desire led him to the world of stand-up. A self-confessed pessimist, he describes himself as “not a natural choice for a career in laughter”. He has a rare ability to walk close to the line of what audiences find acceptable and yet still remain likable and funny. His reputation for being a bit unfriendly, a touch dark and even morose is really not true. In real life he’s loving, warm and philanthropic. Just a bit misunderstood. Mike Cox Mike has been performing comedy since 2011 and quickly made his mark on the comedy scene with his sharp witted observational style which saw him crowned South Coast Comedian of the Year in 2014 and the Not So New Comedian of the Year in 2022. Kyrah Gray South London born and raised, Kyrah began her comedy career in 2019 during her last year of University. Her rise on the comedy circuit has been impactful, securing impressive gigs at clubs up and down the country as well as supporting White Yardie on his most recent tour. Kyrah has a huge online presence and has performed for Comedy Central Live, starred in Netflix’s YouTube sketch What Would You Do? with Harry Pinero, and has her first arena performance under her belt with Mo Gilligan’s Black British Takeover at The O2. Electro Jazz Orchestra @ The MICA Centre, Mersea Island | Mersea Community & Sports Centre
Nov 1, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Centre
The band formed in 2022, when we started talking about doing a different kind of big band using technology usually found in the pop field. So as well as the traditional band, for arrangements that need more than we can provide on the spur of the moment, technology is used to provide anything from strings to percussion (and even a lion roar in one arrangement - see if you can spot that!) in a seamless mix of warm air (the humans) and something called Ableton (the technology). This allows the band to manage all sorts of tracks, from all sorts of eras, all while maintaining a sounds and feel which suits all ages, and all ears, and for the moment, not a hint of Glenn Miller!

Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things? by Pierre Novellie | Blanchardstown Library
Nov 2, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Centre
Pierre Novellie in conversation Comedian Pierre Novellie was on stage when a heckler suggested he was autistic. Usually, this disruption would be water off a duck's back but two things made this heckler different: first, he was himself autistic. Second, he turned out to be absolutely right. This random encounter led to a diagnosis of autism at the age of 31 that unravelled his world, explained his struggles and answered questions that had bothered him for his entire life. He will be in conversation with writer and performer Erin McGathy, to discuss his book Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things?: A Comedian’s Guide to Autism, his late diagnosis and his writing process.

Movement Flow and Floorwork Workshop [Poole] | The Project Climbing Centre
Nov 9, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Centre
In this workshop, you will be encouraged to try different floor movements. You will be guided through a variety of fun movement patterns and skills - varying difficulty and plenty of progressions will allow you to learn at your own pace while being able to find joy in this movement experience. Who is this workshop for (everyone! but let's get more specific): current and former dancersbored gym-goerspole fitness folksaerialistsmartial artistsyogiscircus folksAnd anyone else who simply wants to try some new ways of moving and learning some cool fun moves! The aim of this workshop is to equip you with the basic and intermediate elements of floor locomotions, floor work, and soft acrobatics (Think accessible, yet challenging funky adultobatics!). Through this workshop, you will gain practical tools to build your own enjoyable physical practice that's playful, grounding, and meditative. Workshop content: Floor locomotions - this section is focused on moving on all fours in funky and creative ways. We'll explore crab walks, bear crawls, and many other movement patterns. Floorwork - introduction to several gentle rolling techniques and further exploration of modified floor locomotions that allow for more creativity and freedom of movement. Soft acrobatics - this is my favourite section! I will introduce you to the world of low-impact soft acrobatics like cartwheels, more rolling, and how to break down more complex movement patterns in a safe and accessible way. Even though this part might sound a bit scary, especially for someone without an acrobatic background, all participants will be able to work at their own pace and fitness level while learning new skills. Each section will consist of three parts: isolation, integration, and improvisation. This means that we'll start by learning individual moves, then start working on building movement flows and sequences, and finally, we'll learn how to improvise with those skills working towards grounding flow states. Everyone will be encouraged and supported to gently step outside their comfort zones to learn new skills and sequences. Above all, the aim is to have a lot of fun, learn to move in unique ways, and get creative with our bodies. Note: Limited spots available, so secure your place now! Workshop add-on: you'll receive 3 playlists with most of the moves you'll learn during the workshop, tutorials on how to do them and examples of sequences for your practice after the workshop. ***Additional Information Please, be aware the you will be requested to sign health waiver and video/photo consent before attending the workshop. During some of my workshops video recordings and photos will be taken. This is done for marketing and teaching purposes. What people who attended this workshop say: Nadine (workshop participant) 'I can highly recommend working with Kuba. I did the Movement Workshop and it was fantastic. Kuba is a great communicator and makes things seem totally achievable. Suitable for all levels. I have a severe AI disease with lots of joint issues and this session helped me move comfortably through a really wide variety of movement patterns. More able students got loads from the session too! If you get a chance to do this workshop go for it!' Zuza (workshop participant) 'Movement workshop was a good experience. I learnt some great mobility drills, and free flow was pure freedom for movement. Liberating from rigid rep counting. 😄'
