WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BE DOING? In this 2-hour workshop you will be taught step by step, with demos showing how to create five individual Jesmonite Christmas home decorations: two candlestick holders, a medium pot for a pillar candle or Christmas plant, and two Christmas tree decorations. Your pot and candlestick holders could form part of your Christmas dinner table setting – and they also look great on the mantlepiece! You can literally use any colour combinations, and go glitzy with gold or silver foil, understated with gold or silver pigment powder and terrazzo chips, or muted with your favourite Christmas colours – it’s up to you! First, you will practise techniques on two small Christmas tree decorations, then you’ll move onto the candlestick holders and pot, using marbling, block colour and terrazzo effects. The pot measures 8cm high x 8cm diameter. Accompanied children welcome. All materials for each process are provided so you don't have to bring anything other than yourself & potentially an apron/large shirt if you want to keep your clothes clean - Jesmonite washes out in the washing machine but it can be a messy process and if you have plans after the workshop you may want to avoid the temporary marks! Best of all, because Jesmonite is quick to set, you will be able to take your creations home with you at the end of the workshop! The Bike Hub at the University of Leeds is pleased to announce the upcoming Bike Maintenance 101 sessions for staff and students.
