#UNDERMYSKIN is a dance participatory/interactive film that highlights the impact of social networks on societal polarisation. Specifically analyzing the impact of Echo Chamber and Bubble Filter phenomen on the personal identity of young and old generations. A dance work that addresses social-antropological issues by merging dance with cinematography and media technologies. It is inspired by true stories extrapolated from social networks (instagram, tiktok, facebook) and experiences of the protagonist dancers themselves. A critical reflection on the toxic and beneficial use of social media apps through an artistic fictional dance narration of stories of undemocratic beauty standards, excessive addiction, isolation and sometimes dramatic resolutions. Line/Break is an exploration of the relationship between your choices on the page & their landings on the hearts, minds & mouths of readers. Across 4+ hours, participants will be guided through the various functions at the disposal of poets when considering how a piece sits on a page, and specifically, where the poet chooses to stop you -r attention, and encourage you to think. You'll learn about common practices and not only analyze, but actively rework and reimagine select pieces of poetry to help you apply these tactics to your own work. All participants will be asked to bring at least one poem of theirs that they are interested in preparing for a page -- whether on web or in print -- which we will work on collaboratively with the group. A full agenda, preporatory and optional readings, and more will be with each participant by the beginning of November to prepare for an engaging, connecting, and fruitful Sunday. About the facilitators: Arielle Cottingham is a Queer Afro-Latine poet, editor, performance artist, and educator Arielle Cottingham toured four continents in five years, giving performances and teaching workshops across North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. Their work explores the fluidity of intersectional identities, and it has appeared in multiple literary journals both in print and online. Notable performances include Glastonbury, 48H Neukölln, the Alley Theatre, the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA), and the Sydney Opera House, where they won the title of Australian National Poetry Slam Champion in 2016. They are currently based in Berlin, where they regularly host Berlin Spoken Word: currently the longest running all-language open mic in the city. She is primarily interested in photography and writing as forms of autoethnography and has also curated several shows in Athens, London and Berlin. Yaaas Queen is a monthly celebration of fierce and fabulously funny queens, kings and royal criminal queers! The show is in English and on second Tuesday of every month. Paper Visual Art (PVA) hosts an afternoon of events including conversations, talks, readings, and the launch of Paper Visual Art Journal, vol. 16 – the Berlin Edition. This event is the first in a new series of PVA Conversations. The schedule will include a conversation between PVA editor Adrian Duncan and writer Marcel Krueger on the Humboldt Forum; a discussion between photographer Daniel Seiffert and PVA 16 guest editor, Sabrina Mandanici; an artists’ panel featuring Berlin-based Irish artists Doireann O’Malley, Andy Fitz, and Mark Curran, chaired by Rory Rowan; and the launch of the PVA 16. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Following this, there will be two readings in the nearby Arnimplatz, by Rebecca O’Dwyer and Adrian Duncan.
