Venue Co-op Design Jam | 362 Powell St
Apr 24, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Vancouver
Are you tired of seeing your favourite clubs and venues close down or get bought up by developers? We are too.
Vancouver needs a permanent community-owned venue for live music and events and we believe a venue co-operative could be the solution.
On Thursday, April 24th, we are calling together musicians, djs, music-lovers, event organizers, party-goers, and industry professionals to discuss the possibility of forming a
multi-purpose co-operatively owned venue for all kinds of music and events
, from rock to techno to lifestyle parties and more. We're talking
a place that is truly OURS
, co-owned and co-managed by the people who use it (e.g. performers, promoters, regulars who come out to shows and events, etc.) and the people that work there.
This event will take the form of a
design jam
where people can chat, share ideas, and jot things down on sticky notes and flipcharts. We value everyone's contribution and are looking to collect a wide variety of feedback, insight, and interest in this project. Our goal is to build community, create connections across different music and events scenes, and galvanize a core group of people with the skills and knowledge to drive this thing to fruition.
We'll be joined by
DJ's 21KAY and Dulce Diablo
who will be setting the mood for a fun and engaging evening that may or may not turn into an all-out genre-bending dance party!
Stoked to see you there, and please share with your friends, colleagues, and collaborators who might be interested!
Big thanks to the
BC Co-operative Association
for sponsoring and Lana Lou's Restaurant for hosting us :)

Labyrinth walking is an ancient meditation practice used by many different cultures for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. For many, it is a way of centering themselves or of seeking insight during times of transition in their lives. The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Walk at your own pace, releasing that which no longer serves you as you walk toward the centre and receiving whatever it is you need as you follow the same path out. Our labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth laid in the stone floor of the 13th-century Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Chartres in France.
Sound healing is another ancient practice for meditation and self-care that harnesses the power of sound vibrations to promote healing and restoration. Research shows us that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state. The vibrations of sound baths are thought to help you connect with your subconscious mind, allowing inner exploration and self-discovery.
About our resident musician:
Laura, who will be playing crystal singing bowls, is a certifed sound healing practitioner and guided meditation teacher. A Vancouver local, she can be often be found at the labyrinth and on Instagram @ laura_at_the_labyrinth.
