Susumu Kamijo: Table for Us | PERROTIN HONG KONG
Nov 16, 2024–Jan 4, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
In Susumu Kamijo’s latest exhibition, Table for Us at Perrotin Hong Kong, the artist steps sideways into the realm of still life, only to transform the genre with a sleight of hand that feels at once candid and elusive. Known for his playful, abstract paintings of poodles and other sentient forms, Kamijo here shifts gears into a more intimate space, where florals and creatures coalesce in arrangements that hover between fantasy and familiarity. What appears to be a traditional still life at first blush—Morandi-esque vases, plates of food, large goldfish with petal-like fins bulging in their bowls—quickly dissolves into into riddles of texture and composition, pulsating with a strange vitality, even a glint of poison in Summer Blossoms (2024).
Howardena Pindell Deep Sea, Deep Space | White Cube Hong Kong
Nov 20, 2024–Jan 8, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
White Cube is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by American artist Howardena Pindell. With a career spanning over five decades, Pindell lends a dynamic materiality to the canons of painting. Drawing from a profound childhood memory, the circular motif has become one of the most enduring elements in Pindell’s body of work, manifesting in diverse forms such as ellipses, perforations and hole-punched dots. In the late 1960s, the artist pioneered her iconic spray-painting technique, in which the motif is atomised and accrued, resulting in generative stipples of light and colour. This exhibition marks the inaugural presentation of Pindell’s work since the gallery announced representation of the artist in May 2024.

With you and me, the rainbow is still there
Each of us has our own small circle and comfort zone, noisy and quiet, i-personal and e-personal, and LGBTQ+.
On the way to and from different circles, there is always a little excitement and a little discomfort, mostly because we are different. The progress we expect and strive for is that in thousands of different circles, we all insist on freedom and equality together, so that we can be safe and communicate frequently.
You and me in society, weave thousands of Hong Kong, life is very different, some are simpler and some are more difficult. And we exist, we can weave together, and we can decide what one of the Hong Kong is like.
Of course, some things are not convenient to mention, and it is not easy to do, but there are still many excitements and discomforts in life, and there are still many challenges to choose to face, such as some friends who have not yet met, they may be interested in their own things, or they may have misunderstood for a long time. We can continue to chew and digest these things, and living well is not monotonous.
Because of the imagination of diverse communities, different circles are eager to connect with each other. I hope that this time and place can accommodate you and me with different images, see each other, accompany each other, and gather and weave into a beautiful rainbow of Hong Kong!
On the road to pursuing freedom and equality, with you and me, rainbows can bloom everywhere.

'Transitions' Multi-media Group Exhibition & Workshops by Being Neighbourly | Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre
Nov 25, 2024 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
EACH TICKET ADMITS ONE PERSON THE EXHIBITION WILL CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC AT 5PM. LAST ENTRIES WILL BE AT 4PM. Being Neighbourly's art exhibition 'Transitions' explores themes of change and growth across body, self and place, November 21-25 at the HK Visual Arts Centre. Join us for this exciting event! Participating Artists Our stellar lineup includes the following creatives: Andreas von Buddenbrock (aka 'The Ink Trail'), Vivian Ho, Elsa Jeandedieu, Bharat Khemlani, Francesco Lietti, Lindsey McAlister, Carol Man, Louise Soloway Chan, Peter Sung and Andrew Tse. About the Theme 'Transitions' The meaning of Transitions is the process or period of changing from one state or condition to another. Our lives are marked by many transitions — physical transitions around birth, adolescence and puberty, life before and after childbirth, ageing and death, which touch many of us if we are lucky enough to live long. But there are other markers too, societal ones, around which transitions occur, like entering kindergarten, school or university, first jobs and then job hopping, moving out from our childhood homes to rent or buy our own homes, dating, getting engaged and married, having children, moving home and sometimes country, getting divorced. Not all of us have yet or will ever tick off each of these but the ones we do define our lives and our perceptions of ourselves and, often, the way we’re seen by others. Just as we are going through personal transitions, so too is Hong Kong imbued with them. World city that it is, it bears witness to our personal transitions daily, and it is also party to its own. In these days of ever-increasing Woke-ism, and the resultant censorship both of self and of others, art is an essential conduit to re-energise the stultified and channel our attention inwards to contemplate the things that are profoundly affecting us. Judging Panel We are pleased to have the involvement of the following judges to determine which of our 10 participating Artists will receive the 'Being Neighbourly Creativity Award': Bert Bulthuis of STUDIO SITEC, Vivian Ho of the FindArt App, and Pete Ross and Kyra Campbell, acting as one vote, from the HK Arts Collective. About Being Neighbourly Being Neighbourly is a community business that serves Individuals, Charities & NGOs and Businesses.
