In this concentration, students will delve into the fundamentals of whitework embroidery, exploring a wide range of techniques such as Monogramming, Hardanger, Hedebo, Richelieu/Cutwork, Reticella, Broderie Anglaise, and more. The course will cover the history, methods, materials, and tools necessary for this technique. Lectures will also touch upon regional and cultural differences, historical applications, design principles, and color theory relevant to whitework embroidery. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with traditional and contemporary styles, receiving personalized guidance and critique from their instructor.
