Time for One Poem workshops are back - now in 7-week blocks! There are two different blocks depending on whether you see yourelf as a 'Beginner' or 'More Experienced'. Both will include: writing exercises, prompts, discussions about (mostly) modern and contemporary poems, and lots of tea and biscuits! About the Beginners course In these relaxed and informal sessions, published poet and experienced workshop facilitator Annie Muir will create a comfortable environment for a group of beginners to start their poetry journey. Each session will involve looking at a poem (or two!) and seeing what we can make of it as a group. This will be followed by prompts to get us started in writing our own poems. While there will be some talk of poetry techniques, no prior experience is needed. We will go back to basics and discuss our general thoughts and feelings about the poems without the fancy lingo – and have fun! * About the More Experienced course This group is perfect for anyone who is looking for a community of like-minded people to have discussions about poetry and share their writing with. In this block we try some new more adventurous writing exercises, experiment with new forms and also do at least one editing and feedback session. Not your usual book club, this is a social space for LGBTQ+ people to come together and do one of our favourite things, read. The idea behind a read-in is you bring something you are currently, or want to start reading, we gather together and after getting a beverage of your choice we all settle down to an hour and a half of uninterrupted quiet time to just read.
