History of Lench's Trust | Birmingham & Midland Institute

Jun 30, 2025 (UTC+1)
Birmingham
Cultural Experiences
Lench’s Trust is a remarkable and positive symbol of continuity in a city of seemingly perpetual transformation. In 1525 in Tudor Birmingham, the wealthy and childless William Lenche decided that the income from his estates should be distributed in “warke of charyte”. Since then, generations of Trustees and officials have carried out his wishes diligently, faithfully, and thoughtfully. Originally acting as an important aspect of local government through repairing roads and bridges, they gradually became more active in the provision of almshouses for those in need, and now Lench’s Trust provides a host of later living services for people living in Birmingham. Five hundred years on and having successfully adapted to changing needs, Lench’s Trust continues its valuable charitable work in Birmingham. Professor Carl Chinn and Lenchs Trust Chief Executive will take us through the remarkable history of Birmingham’s Oldest Chairty Information Source: The Birmingham & Midland Institute | eventbrite

Jenga Speed Dating for Single Gay Men| Age 30's & 40's | Birmingham | The Rolling Mill

Jun 17, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Birmingham
Cultural Experiences
Get ready for an evening of fun (and interesting) conversations. Some Single Thing , specialists in social and dating events, are excited to be hosting a singles event in the city of Birmingham for single gay men in their 30's and 40's, and we’d love for you to join us. Hosted at The Rolling Mill in the upmarket Jewellery Quarter, you will get an opportunity to chat one on one with single gay men. Let's make this a little interesting... We understand speed dating can become a little repetitive, so we are here to make sure the conversation with each date is different and exciting. You and your date have to work together to keep your Jenga tower intact. Afterall, all relationships begin with a strong foundation, right? To make things a little more interesting, you will find icebreaker questions on some of the blocks to keep the conversation light hearted and all round fun. How does it work? Our fantastic team will meet you on arrival to register your attendance, then head over to the bar and grab yourself a drink before the event begins. The team will explain what is planned for the evening. Half singles will be seated, the other half will rotate between tables every 3-5 minutes. You can expect to meet up to 30 singles at our dating event. Half way through, there will be a break for you to top up your drink before we go for round two. After speed dating, you get the chance to get further acquainted and network with other single gay men.
