Workshop Description:
2-Day lecture/field experience
This hands-on workshop is designed to improve the ability of field staff to identify local species of fish, and to use the resulting data for assessment of waterway health. Participants will learn to identify species commonly encountered in this region, practice using various sampling gear and techniques, and determine best approaches to analyzing the data. Day 2 of class will be spent in the field collecting and identifying fish in a local waterway.
Lunch is provided for the Day 1. Please pack a lunch for the field day.
Format:
April 24th (day one), will be held at the ELC, and includes a sampling gear overview and prep for the next day. Day two is a full-day field trip to a PGE facility and/or juvenile salmon screw trap. In the afternoon we will head to an off-site location to practice collection & identification using electroshocking and/or seining (for warm water species). Specific locations will be determined closer to the workshop date.

Weigh-In Starts At 9:00 AM
Competition Starts At 10:00 AM
Competition Ends Before 5:00 PM
Each registered athlete will weigh in upon arrival. The Grip Games will begin with the farmer-carry, and the weight will increase “rising bar” style until there is only 1 athlete remaining. All athletes will complete their bonus game attempt as they are eliminated from the first game. There will be a roughly 10 minute intermission and then the same process will be used to for the second game which is the pinch-hold, and then the third game which is the dead-lift. Grip Games will conclude when there is only 1 athlete remaining in the 3rd game. Final scores will be calculated as a ratio of your weight, to the highest amount of weight reached in each of the games (Ex. If you weigh 200 lbs and you carry/hold/lift 150 lbs, your ratio is 0.75).

The two-day tester renewal course will provide ample time to practice your assembly testing skills on all approved backflow assemblies. Practice assemblies (both vertical and horizontal) with gauges and simulators will be available. Interactive clicker lecture with 10th edition assembly testing and trouble shooting procedures, followed by a written exam. Ample time provided for hands-on assembly practice. On day two hands-on testing will commence.

The ELC’s Nature Spy Explorer Kits are sent right to your door and have all the supplies your budding naturalist will need to learn, create, and play. CCC offers five-day backflow tester certification courses approved by the Oregon Health Division. Only certified testers can perform the annual backflow assembly test required by the Oregon Plumbing Code and Water Purveyors. Join us for the 49th Annual ORWEF Water Environment School hosted via Zoom and on campus by Clackamas Community College.
The Oregon Water Education Foundation (ORWEF) 2025 Water Environment School (WES) is a comprehensive learning and networking opportunity for water quality professionals. High school and college-bound musicians, join us for a jam-packed week of instrumental instruction, rehearsals, and performances this summer at Clackamas Community College! Spots are limited, so register early!
OVERVIEW
Clackamas Summer Band Camp is a week-long summer music program that's perfect for instrumental musicians of all levels who want to improve their skills, play fun and challenging wind ensemble repertoire, and learn about music theory. Held at the beautiful Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students learn from renowned Portland-area musicians in a fun college-campus setting, with plenty of rehearsal time. Camp runs from 9 am - 4 pm daily with a Friday afternoon concert. Conducted by Lars Campbell, CCC's Director of Instrumental Music.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Registration is open to students entering grades 9-13 with
at least two years of experience
in a school ensemble. Students who play flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, double bass, piano, and percussion are encouraged to register! STAFF
Conductor - Lars Campbell, CCC Director of Instrumental Music
Lars Campbell has been the Director of Instrumental Music at Clackamas Community College since 2013. He directs the CCC Wind Ensemble and the CCC Jazz Ensemble, as well as currently serving as the chair of the Music Department. He conducts a variety of ensembles outside the college setting, in performance and recordings. He conducts at Clackamas Repertory Theater each year, leading a group of area professionals in the orchestra pit to excellent reviews. In 2021 he conducted the world premiere of Darrell Grant’s jazz opera Sanctuaries for Third Angle New Music. In addition to his conducting duties, he maintains an extremely active trombone performance career in the evenings, performing frequently with the orchestras of the Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater, and Portland Opera, as well as many jazz performance groups.

WHAT TO BRING
Instruments - students should expect to bring their own instruments. Piano and percussion will be provided. Loaner instruments may be available upon request.
Equipment - students should come prepared with extra reeds, valve oil, rosin, neck straps, tuners, and anything else necessary for a full day of playing. Stands and chairs are provided.
Food/Drink - students should bring refillable water bottles and snacks. Bag lunch is encouraged. Students with parent/guardian permission may leave campus for lunch.
Clothing - students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, as building temperature may vary.

Vendor Fair Info:
We will have a Vendor's Day on the Wednesday, July 10th.
The cost of Vendor Registration is $350 (+$35 minimum door prize).
You can sign up as a vendor through our registration process with the VENDOR FEE- NOT CEU ELIGIBLE ticket.
If you need any accommodation to present products, please notify us PRIOR to showing up to the event.
The Vendor event will be held in Gregory Forum, on CCC campus.
