This simple but elegant method of folding paper creates a festive bouquet for your home or office, and origami tulip arrangements also make great gifts. Who: This program is for human resources professionals and in-house counsel who conduct or oversee an organization’s internal investigations. Cost: $499 per person Presented by: Fran Haas and Mary Funk from Nyemaster Goode, P.C. Description: Two experienced internal investigators will lead this 3.5-hour workshop. Through small group discussion and simulated interview/investigation exercises, Mary and Fran will provide in-depth training that complies with the new internal investigator qualification standard set by the EEOC. Under new federal employment law guidance, all internal investigations into harassment claims must be conducted by an individual who is “well-trained in the skills required for interviewing witnesses and evaluating credibility.” Specifically, investigators must have a skill set for “interviewing witnesses” and “evaluating credibility.” This workshop will satisfy all aspects of this investigator training standard. The workshop will cover the following: Internal investigation basics Respecting various employee rights throughout the investigation process Structuring an investigation to ensure it is sufficiently thorough Identifying and avoiding conflicts of interest in internal investigations Understanding what “material facts” to an investigation are How to evaluate the credibility of witnesses when faced with conflicting versions of events How to effectively interview witnesses Upon conclusion of the investigation, how to arrive at a determination that is a “reasonably fair estimate of the truth.” Participants will receive copies of all training materials with key information and advice on the new EEOC standard, as well as a certification indicating the participant has received training to satisfy the EEOC’s internal investigator qualification standard. Space is intentionally limited in this workshop to allow for meaningful small-group discussion and hands-on training from Fran and Mary. Play therapists apply their knowledge and expertise of child development across all phases of treatment including assessment, treatment planning and intervention, and caregiver consultation, collaboration and discharge. This workshop is designed to provide play therapists with a working knowledge of key theories of child development and how to integrate them through the therapeutic process of play therapy. This workshop will also incorporate current trends in research and child development and how play therapists of all levels can benefit by applying them to their everyday play therapy practice. When providing play therapy to a child, a therapist also serves as an important resource to caretakers and others involved in the child's care. This workshop will also provide tools and practice for play therapists to apply their understanding of child development to increase effectiveness and confidence when providing consultation and psychoeducation. Participants will achieve success in the following learning objectives: Describe at least 4 theories of child development which apply to the practice of play therapy Identify developmental stages/phases for at least 3 play therapy clients. Describe 3 ways to use understanding of child development to enhance assessment and history taking in play therapy Design play therapy treatment plan goals that are informed by child development Create play therapy interventions appropriate for child's current stage of development. Utilize understanding of child development when providing consultation as a play therapist for caretakers and other supports Day 2: Day 2 of this workshop will delve into the use of play therapy as a powerful tool for assessing and diagnosing children and adolescents. By examining common play themes, attendees will be equipped to better understand and address issues such as anxiety, depression, and trauma through the lens of play therapy.
