Strength & Stretch: Barre & Yin Yoga: Get fit, make friends &feel your best | Studio Équilibre Sherbrooke
May 18, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Saint-Maurice-de-l'Echouerie
Get fit, have fun, make friends, and feel your best with this barre fitness and yin yoga fusion class! Barre is a low-impact, full body workout designed to burn your muscles for effective toning & strengthening, all while moving to fun music. Then we slow it down and balance out our practice with slow, deep stretches using yin yoga. This is the perfect practice to build strength and increase mobility and flexibility. No dance, yoga, or prior experience required but be ready to move!
The class will be from 11AM-12:30PM. It will be around 50 minutes of barre, and 40 minutes of yin with savanasa. Afterwards if people are interested, we can go for coffee at a nearby cafe to get social. :)
What should I expect from a Barre class?
Barre is accessible to all, but it is a workout! Expect a fusion of Pilates, yoga, and ballet movements. We will work the entire body from head to toe, targeting all muscle groups and working them to the fullest. We will also use light weights (optional) and Pilates props. Props will be supplied.
What should I expect from Yin Yoga?
We hold relaxing deep stretch postures for between 2-5 minutes. This allows us to deeply release tension in the muscles and the mind, and give ourselves a moment of peace and stillness. This will help you feel very open, relaxed, and restored after the workout.
What should I bring?
Comfy clothes you can move easily in, a small towel if you tend to sweat, water, a positive attitude, and good energy! :) There are mats at the studio, but they are small and can't fit the whole body. If you prefer to have more padding for the whole body, I suggest bringing your own mat, or a towel.
How much does it cost/how to pay?
$20 if you are coming alone. If you bring a friend, the price for two is $30, so $15 each. Also, when you come to 4 of my classes, your 5th class is always free. :)
You can pay through Eventbrite, bring cash the day of, or send an etransfer to

Role of Geotechnical Engineering in Human Settlement on the Moon and Beyond | Polytechnique Montréal

Saint-Maurice-de-l'Echouerie
Role of Geotechnical Engineering in Human Settlement on the Moon and Beyond
ABSTRACT
The Moon has become a central focus of international exploration, with numerous space agencies and private entities aiming for sustainable lunar operations by the late 2020s. Key objectives include establishing long-term human habitats, enabling resource utilization, and paving the way for Mars missions. However, challenges such as harsh conditions, limited resources, and insufficient regolith data persist. Traditional infrastructure designs fall short of addressing lunar constraints, and current knowledge of subsurface conditions and regolith properties remains inadequate. Advancing resource mapping, in-situ testing, and multi-functional instruments is essential for sustainable settlement and industrial operations. This lecture highlights ongoing research in lunar geotechnics, advanced geophysics and AI-powered photonics technologies for water ice and volatile prospecting, moonquake-resilient infrastructure, and bio-inspired drilling technologies for sustainable exploration and construction in low-gravity lunar environments.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Pooneh Maghoul is a Full Professor of Geotechnical Engineering and Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure and Geoengineering Research Laboratory (SIGLab) and the Space Resources and Infrastructure Engineering Research Unit (Astrolith) at Polytechnique Montréal. She is also the Lead for Sustainable Infrastructure in Cold Regions at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) and co-Chair of the Geotechnical Engineering and Foundation sub-group of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Lunar Engineering Design, Analysis, and Construction.
Dr. Maghoul’s research focuses on developing resilient and sustainable infrastructure in extreme environments, including space and cold regions. Her work includes permafrost engineering, smart mining, energy transition, low-carbon materials for ground improvement, geo-structural health monitoring, and In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) on the Moon. She has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Young Geotechnical Engineer Award from the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Her innovative research has resulted in over 13 patents and software licenses and led to the creation of several startup companies.

Enquête Paranormale - Vieux-Montréal Colonial | Bonsecours Market
May 23, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Saint-Maurice-de-l'Echouerie

Saint-Maurice-de-l'Echouerie
Have you ever felt like you're constantly giving, yet struggling to set the boundaries you need to protect your peace?
As women, we are natural nurturers—caring, serving, and giving. But when we struggle to say no, these beautiful qualities can sometimes become burdens. We take on more than we were meant to carry, leading to exhaustion, irritation, and feeling overwhelmed.
This year, we’re doing things differently. We are guarding our hearts!
On May 24th, She Will Be Made Whole invites you to our Second Annual Women's Event:
"Guarded Heart: Setting Proper Boundaries for a Healthier You!"
This transformative day is designed to help you recognize your worth, reclaim your voice, and walk in the freedom that comes with healthy boundaries.
Our incredible speakers, Manon Wascher, a Christian Psychotherapist, and Christina Batista-Ferreira, will share powerful insights to help you navigate the challenges of setting boundaries—whether in your relationships, workplace, or personal life. You’ll walk away feeling seen, supported, and equipped to say “yes” to yourself without feeling guilty.
But this event is about more than just learning—it’s about experiencing breakthroughs together.
A soul-stirring performance by R&B artist Cici
A chance to connect with a community of like-minded women
A light lunch to nourish you as you reflect and grow
A pop-up shop featuring local businesses that celebrate women
This is your invitation to step into healing, to create space for yourself, and to learn how to guard your heart with wisdom and love!
You deserve to thrive. You deserve to be whole.
Join us for a day that will inspire, uplift, and transform you. We can't wait to see you!

Contrôle d'espèce exotique envahissante - Anthrisque des bois | 1260 Chem. Remembrance
May 24, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Saint-Maurice-de-l'Echouerie
English follows
Description de l’activité:

Activity description:
Towards the end of winter, it can be exciting to see the first patches of green appearing amidst the melting snow. However, many invasive species tend to sprout before native plants, effectively outcompeting them in the race for sunlight. Cow parsley is one such species, carpeting the ground in several sectors of the mountain and taking up space that belongs to native vegetation.
Required materials:
Knee pads and gloves will be provided on site.
Long pants and closed-toe shoes must be worn.
Weather
:
To ensure everyone's safety, we monitor the weather in the days leading up to the activity. Should adverse weather conditions be forecast 24 hours before the activity, it will be cancelled. An email will be sent to inform you.
Cancellation:
The activity will be cancelled in the event of:
High probability of thunderstorms
Winds and/or gusts over 60 km/h
Temperature above 38°C
Air quality index over 100
