DISRUPT Festival 2025 | Machine Hall
May 27, 2025 (UTC+10)ENDED
Sydney
DISRUPT: Think of it as a one-night festival filled with live music, entertainment and art all curated and created by young people who have experienced homelessness. Hosted by the Foyer Foundation at the incredible Machine Hall and designed in collaboration with a committee of Foyer Residents, Students and Coaches, the festival will kick off the 2025 Foyer Advantage and is set to be an unforgettable, fun night. Whether you’re a Foyer resident, a current or prospective operator, advocate, policymaker, philanthropist, or investor, join us for a night of bold, vivid and powerful art in all its forms created by young people in the Foyer community. Why DISRUPT? Stories have so much power. Our societies, our systems and our lives are all shaped by stories. They have the potential to shift hearts and minds. We tell stories to each other, about each other, about who is right, about who is wrong - who deserves our trust, who we should support and who the winners are. Stories about young people experiencing homelessness rarely ever quote a young person. Even when they do, the story is about what bad choices or bad behaviour led to being homeless, or the trauma of their experiences - ignoring the complex reasons behind homelessness, and the multiple ways in which our society and systems have let them down. We’re looking to DISRUPT these stories - to empower and humanise, celebrate and share the experience, voices and creativity that young people have. When we focus on the good in people, on their strengths and aspirations they have a much better chance of being motivated, confident, healthy, and connected. From the canvas to the stage, DISRUPT is a call to action, an invitation to be part of changing the way that we see, hear, talk about and with young people experiencing homelessness. DISRUPT will be held at the incredible Machine Hall in Sydney.

Peter Kingston | State Library of New South Wales
Jun 8, 2024–May 18, 2025 (UTC+10)ENDED
Sydney
Over 70 works including prints, artist’s books, sketchbooks and printing plates from across Peter Kingston’s career are on display, in a moving tribute to the late artist.
Peter Kingston (1943–2022) lived and worked at the edge of Sydney Harbour. After a childhood spent at Parsley Bay, he settled in Lavender Bay among a community of artists and friends. From there, he observed harbour ferries, Luna Park and the Sydney Opera House in all seasons and weather. These were the subjects of his work, often incorporating his boat, the MV Anytime, and his dogs.
Kingston’s output ranged across drawing, printing, painting and filmmaking. A passion for Sydney, for environmental conservation and the preservation of built heritage never left him. Joyful, charming, and with a wry humour, his work celebrates the everyday aspects of our city. Yet there is a bittersweet element to his work. Peter Kingston often talked about ‘time as an artist’, his way of recognising the beauty and value that accumulates with age. His work captures things at risk in a world that is always upgrading, and expresses a nostalgic yearning for those places and characters now lost.

“My Australian Outback series is a tribute to the rugged beauty and serene vastness of our iconic landscape. Softly spoken in neutral tones, these paintings invite the viewer to immerse themselves in the endless horizons, weathered earth and resilient spirit of the Outback. Each piece is a nuanced exploration of the emotional connection we share with this land, distilling the essence of a place where the boundaries between earth, sky and soul are effortlessly blurred, created in my recognisable style”. – Joan Blond 2025 Joan is an abstract expressionist and contemporary artist who lives near the ocean at Phillip Island, Victoria. Joan loves painting generous blocks of colour and her style is vibrantly expressionistic, often incorporating energetic line work and she loves dots to add texture. Andre Pettipas and The Giants // Kasador // Fairgale - Road To GS III | The Red Farm (Cape Breton, Canada)

Sydney
ANDRE PETTIPAS AND THE GIANTS
Andre Pettipas and The Giants are a rarity - an act who absolutely refuse to let anything take the fun out of their creative process. Whether it’s performances on-record or on-stage they have no fear of stepping outside the box to get their message across. With multiple ECMA nominations, three studio albums and one live record under their belt they have been working tirelessly to establish themselves as one of the East Coast’s top live outfits. This can be best noted with the fruition of their own festival, ‘Giantstock’ which takes place in Merigomish, Nova Scotia on Labour Day weekend annually.
KASADOR
Kingston, Ontario band Kasador have never been scared of change. And the three friends at Kasador’s core—Cameron Wyatt (vocals/guitar), Boris Baker (bass), and Stephen Adubofuor (drums)—have been through a lot of it. They’ve woven years of tumult through their mid- and late-20s into something powerful and real: a tight-knit, sincere, and caring rock and roll band hitting full sprint, with an upcoming full-length record about youth, memory, relationships, and how the relentless passage of time shapes and constantly reshapes all of those things. It’s a bright, punkish, emotional guitar-rock record that ultimately tracks the process of learning to be okay with not being okay. After sharing stages with Arkells, July Talk, Sam Roberts Band, and The Glorious Sons, and racking up 350,000 spins of their 2019 debut full-length in six months, Kasador recorded their new LP Youth at Bathouse Studio with The Glorious Sons’ Brett Emmons producing and Nyles Spencer (Half Moon Run, July Talk) engineering. Vic Florencia (Olivia Rodrigo, Jason Mraz, Five For Fighting) mixed the record and Peter Letros (Beyonce, Duran Duran) mastered.
FAIRGALE
Fairgale, renowned for their harmonies and dual lead singers, earned acclaim winning the 2023 MusicNL Rock Artist of the Year award and a 2024 ECMA nomination for Rock Recording of the Year. They've shared stages with luminaries like Arkells, Lights, Melissa Etheridge, Blue Rodeo, and more. Notably, they performed alongside Trooper, Bryan Adams, and Derina Harvey for a memorable rendition of We're Here For a Good Time (Not a Long Time) at the 2018 George Street Festival.Fairgale's eclectic sound, blending rock and pop influences, captivates audiences with infectious energy. Their seamless vocal chemistry and genre-defying performances showcase their prominence in Newfoundland's music scene, solidifying them as a band to watch.
