Don't wait until spring to experience the thrill of riding on a wheel! The Midlands Triathlon Academy is offering an exciting opportunity at the Leicester Cycle Circuit on January 31, 2024. This safe environment, away from traffic and dirty roads, provides a purpose-built, floodlit 1km closed road circuit for a 90-minute group riding session. Riders of similar abilities will be grouped together and challenged both technically and physically. These sessions are not meant to be a smashfest, but rather a way to enhance athletes' training and prepare them for the upcoming season. Participants will have the chance to improve their group riding skills, cornering techniques, and race scenarios. The sessions are open to Midlands Academy, affiliate, and development squad athletes, as well as Midlands Triathlon series athletes. It's a great opportunity for everyone to come together between academy/development days. If you are not part of the Midlands Academy, please email midlandsacdemy@britishtriathlon.org to complete a consent form. Be sure to bring a clean road bike in good working order, a helmet, gloves, spare tubes, pump, tyre levers, mini tool, appropriate clothing for the weather, two full bottles, snacks, and enough food and drink for pre, during, and post-session. Don't forget to pack a kit bag with overshoes, thicker gloves, and spare clothes. Keep in mind that Leicester Cycle Circuit is always exposed to the elements, so be prepared for wind and other weather conditions. Remember to use the North Car Park at St Oswalds Road, Leicester LE3 6RJ. Workshop - 3D Creature Design and Augmented Reality Filters | Two Queens Leicester

Join Two Queens in Leicester for a free artist development workshop on January 27, 2024. This workshop, titled "Workshop - 3D Creature Design and Augmented Reality Filters," will provide participants with an opportunity to learn how to 3D Model and produce AR filters for social media. Led by digital artist Nicholas Delap, this two-stage workshop will focus on augmented reality, combining the real world with computer-generated content.
The workshop is a response to Joey Holder's 'Cryptid' exhibition at Two Queens. Participants will have the chance to craft 3D creatures using Z Brush and display them as augmented reality Instagram filters using Spark AR. To participate, attendees must bring their own MacOS or Windows laptop, as well as a smartphone, Instagram account, and email address. All software needed for the workshop is free to download.
Nicholas Delap is an accomplished digital artist whose work explores themes of wilderness, post-humanism, and re-wilding. He creates immersive virtual environments, sculptures, and augmented reality installations that challenge the boundaries between humans, nature, and technology. Nicholas has exhibited his work internationally and has completed commissions for well-known brands such as Crocs, Ashnikko, Spotify, and Aitch. In 2022, he received an Honorary Mention at the ARS Electronica festival for his VR exhibition.
