In addition to his literary achievements, Ely also teaches creative writing at the University of Huddersfield, where he serves as the Director of the Ted Hughes Network. Furthermore, he has delved into the world of biographical work with his book "Ted Hughes's South Yorkshire: Made in Mexborough", which explores the early Yorkshire years of the esteemed poet.
