There are very mixed reviews on this resort, so I would start by saying that you should not be put off by all the bad ones ! The resort location and beach are generally very tranquil and quite beautiful. The staff are fantastic, and the food very good. In its “heyday” I would imagine that the resort was absolutely stunning, but it now needs a bit of an update as the rooms and resort are a bit tired. Sadly, the noise of the clubs across the water on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights was a big issue. It went on until 5am ! Unbelievable ! I really feel for the hotel management and team as despite their efforts, it seems they can do nothing about this, and it completely contradicts the key selling point of this hotel which is tranquility. I would stay here again - but probably only mid week. I do hope that they sort out the current challenges as it is a beautiful location and the staff go along way in making up for the few shortcomings. They are great.

A small but very fabulous boutique hotel catering to your pleasure and relaxation. The hotel staff were outstanding, the accommodations are beautiful, the restaurant prepared excellent food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It’s only a very short (one minute) boat ride from the mainland to the hotel. There were plent of excellent restaurants on the mainland to stampede as well.

I am really sad to write this review because I really wanted to love this hotel. However, I can honestly say it is the worst value hotel experience I have ever had. This hotel is impossible to love for 2 reasons: 1. The bed and pillows are so uncomfortable it almost feels like they deliberately want you to have a bad nights sleep 2. The noise from the beach bars opposite the hotel is unbearable. It booms across the water until 5am. I am heavy sleeper but there is simply no way you can sleep with this going on. Add to this the high prices, small, tired rooms and patchy service and I’m afraid I am still reeling from one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. My husband’s family are Vincentian and we really wanted to tell them that we’d had a lovely time but if I had my time over, I would skip this incredible rip off and move swiftly to Bequia or Mustique for a much nicer experience. I suggest you do the same!

This resort is a wonderful gem if you ignore its shortcomings. The beautiful gardens in which it is set make it feel very intimate. The cottages bordering the sea and beach are very special with the sound of the waves breaking on the shoreline. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Now the downside -the hotel is in need of some refurbishment and is beginning to look tired. Some of the walks further away from the centre of activity show a neglect which is a shame as the views are quite stunning. Finally the bars opposite have some very noisy music which can be especially loud in a Friday/Saturday night.(Other reviewers have noted this -bring ear plugs)

Really enjoyed our recent relaxing stay at Young Island Resort. The cottages are older but well maintained and clean; the grounds are lush with greenery - a treat especially for anyone trying to get away from winter; the food was freshly prepared, tasty and plentiful at all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner; the staff really are amazing - absolutely everyone was friendly and helpful. The weekend evening mainland bar noise mentioned by a few reviewers might bother some people but didn't bother us.

Young Island Resort is a beautiful spot and a real haven. We loved our 2 night stay there although sadly our last night we were kept awake by music on St Vincent directly adjacent.

My brother and I went on a day pass. The place certainly looks much nicer in the pictures. Beach chairs and loungers were all dirty, many broken. Beach was not raked as it appeared in the pictures, rather littered with garbage including used motor oil containers. Their swim up bar was just an empty wooden structure sitting in the water. At one point it appears that someone sank a lot of money building the place, but upkeep is lacking. We ordered lunch, some bread was served as were were waiting, it was dried out, ordered some fish, ...WAY over cooked in a burnt batter, so we thought BLT's would be safe,..not really toasted, more warmed up, lettuce was old and wilty, and a mystery product that we determined was meant to impersonate cheese...outcome~inedible. We cut our losses and left.

I was really excited to visit Young Island for lunch with my husband after snagging two days off from the children. It looked beautiful, so we booked a table for lunch at 2.30pm, and were excited when we got to the pier at that time to be picked up and whizzed across. Unfortunately the dream ended there. The boat driver was mute and grumpy as hell, 4 equally miserable staff members proceeded to get on the boat, as well as 2 frozen turkeys and 3 crates of groceries (presumably for the kitchen). Once we got there a few minutes later, no one was there to greet us, so we wondered into the resort, stepping over holiday makers on the beach strewed out on towels and smoking endless cigarettes. We finally found something that resembled a bar only to be told that 'lunch was finished' with no apology. We walked a little further, towards what I assume was the restaurant, and had about 3 staff members staring blankly at us. They confirmed lunch was indeed finished and when I asked them why anyone would let me book a table for lunch at 2.30pm, one of them responded, "I don't know" - no apology. Honestly, I wanted to cry. We swiftly decided to get the boat back to St Vincent and ended up having Tacos at Mangoz which was a silver lining as the food was great and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. So save yourself some time and go there instead!

It was for us a real pleasure to be back at Young Island. We came over whilst staying elsewhere for lunch and Sunday buffet which was delightful. We then chose to book ourselves in for our last couple of days and which wrapped up our 3 week stay here in St Vincent very nicely. Our cottage was very comfortable and we appreciated the air conditioning! The outside shower is always special. The staff are wonderful and always make us feel like we are coming home. We hope to be back next year!
