Spent a wonderful afternoon eating and drinking whilst catching up with old friends - over from New Zealand. They couldn't believe how attractive and comfortable the bar and gardens were - all they had hoped for for traditional English charm. We were served by Lucy who couldn't do enough for us and made us feel so at home.

We stayed for two nights whilst we attended a wedding nearby. The rooms were clean and full of character. We dined in the restaurant on the first night, food was very good and had some excellent vegetarian options. Staff were all really friendly, with a special call out to Carol who made us fee very welcome and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. We would certainly stay again should be in the area.

Very cosy and charactersome. Lovely French owners. Very tasty food. Probably the best accommodation on offer in the area. We both had a very good night's sleep, with lovely coffee in the room. Very relaxing.

In recent months the Anchor has been through a strange time. Loud music, questionable food and town centre like music acts. But, in the last couple of weeks the new team have got hold of it. The chef is visible and the food excellent again. Front of house team seem to be well chosen and well led. As locals to the Anchor we are regular customers. Great to see it coming back to where it should be. Thoroughly recommend this marvellous pub again!

The worst food I have ever had in a restaurant. Genuinely rock hard buns and burger as dry as the Gobi Desert - a disaster that set me back almost £20. We were in a group of 10 and every single person was laughing in disbelief at how much we had been had. No wonder it was deserted on a Saturday. Sadly we seem to be the last to get the memo . . . Avoid at all costs, shameful.

We stayed for a local wedding and found the Inn to have lots of character. The room was beautiful and rustic. The shower was very nice and powerful, they even supplied toothbrushes and paste if required! The only slight let down was we ordered breakfast and were told it would be left outside the room in the morning but this never happened. I got in touch and the inn processed an instant refund and were very apologetic. I would definitely go back

I was very impressed with the style and cleanliness of the room and bathroom. There was a wide range of tea and coffee to choose from in the room and plenty of individual milk pods. My stay was an enjoyable experience and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would thoroughly recommend the Anchor Inn for a staycation.

A lovely old and atmospheric inn with lovely rooms and a good bathroom. It was ruined by the budget airline breakfast which was left outside of our door and consisted of a little cardboard box containing a dry croissant, a pot of jam and an apple. Truly awful.

The Anchor Inn offers a "very good breakfast £15" but there is no breakfast available. It also offers dinner except on Sundays but there is no food on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. The sign outside the pub and the *********** entry all advertise these non existent services. So if you want to stay in a nice pub with good food don't book for these 3 days of the week. We booked on the basis of the advertised breakfasts (for which we pre-paid) coupled with a nice dinner but it was room only. The tiny staff team tries hard to make up for the problems of these absent services but their job is made harder by the mis-selling - we would not have stayed here if we had known.
