Amsterdam Teleport Hotel

Transiting through Amsterdam on our way to Madrid, this hotel was okay for a one-night stay. Hotels were surprisingly expensive this week, so we couldn't expect too much for a triple room costing around 500-600 euros. I brought my own disposable sheets to put over the bed. The kettle and other amenities looked a bit dirty, so I didn't use them. I also brought my own hairdryer. Not having slippers was quite inconvenient, but I guess that's normal in Europe. Even the city-center hotel apartments we stayed at later in Madrid and Barcelona didn't provide them; I only got to wear slippers when we reached a five-star hotel in Segovia. The private bathroom was separate from the room, which was a bit inconvenient, but I knew that when booking. Also, because I woke up so early, I decided to walk to the canals. It was quite a long walk, about three kilometers, actually.

The room itself was decent – spacious and well-equipped. However, there was no deadbolt on the door, and the walls seemed to be thin partitions, so soundproofing wasn't great. On the other hand, the price was incredibly good. For this price point, being so close to the Sloterdijk transport hub for metro and train was very convenient for getting around. For a business trip, I was quite satisfied.

The beer was good.
