We were staying at the Pilot Hotel close by, and popped into the Anemos Hotel's beach restaurant, Sirocco, for dinner one evening (Thursday 30/05/24). N.b., It wasn't a patch on much cheaper and authentic Seven Souled next door! After some umming and ahhing the manager (I assume) suggested he could squeeze us in (although it wasn't busy) and politely asked us to take a seat in the cafe/bar side whilst they prepared us a table. They gave us a half glass of Prosecco each whilst we waited. A good start! Once seated the manager enquired as to our method of payment (which seemed like a slightly odd policy) before taking our order. 45 minutes later, with our 5-year-old daughter's bedtime rapidly approaching and constantly under attack from midges, we managed to catch someone's eye only to be told the chef had burnt my starter and had had to start it again from scratch (very strange considering I had ordered raw prawns!). We accepted their apology with a smile but let them know it was nearing our daughter's bedtime. We'd ordered "Fish Steaks" for her, but they bought fish fingers (apparently, the menu should have read, "Fish Sticks"). No biggy! I'm not sure what they bought me in the end (something wrapped in a leaf of some description laying in the same sauce that came on the side with my main), despite my confusion I rushed it down quickly without complaint. Then came the awful double whammy! My wife's ink squid risotto was uncooked; she doesn't mind al dente but this might have broken her teeth! She told them and they offered to cook her another but she explained we didn't have time. They came back with an offer to cook her's a little more and she accepted. What came back was hot baby food! It was edible but she did not enjoy the small amount she actually ate. As for mine, originally my wife had tried to order the seabass sashimi. The manager said that they didn't have this but recommended the seabass fillets, "Fresh", he stated with a grin. As previously mentioned my wife went for the risotto, but I decided to have the seabass fillets he'd recommended. He then told us that the seabass fillets on the a la carte were frozen, and if I wanted fresh I would have to order the Catch of the Day, which was a little more expensive. He told me he would fillet it for me and I begrudgingly agreed. Sadly, when it arrived it wasn't filleted and he was nowhere to be seen. The flesh wasn't firm but was mushy like you get from frozen fish. At some point he came and ask me how our food was, I gently told him some of our woes and he disappeared red faced. The bill arrived, I asked in front of the server if the risotto had been deducted, it hadn't. Wanting to get our little one to bed, we paid up and left without any fuss.
