Matuya Sensen

It's a beautiful Japanese hotel, with Japanese-style accommodation and dining. The service is also very good, and the food is very thoughtful. But the room is too hot at night, the air conditioner is not adjusted well, the quilt is too thick, and I sweated when I slept in April, so I didn't sleep well.

Location, please note! From JR Awara Onsen, a taxi costs about 2,000 yen, and it takes about 6 minutes to arrive directly. For the return journey, you can reserve the hotel shuttle bus at 9.30, and it will be delivered to the station for free. Many guides write that it is the closest to the "Awara Onsen Tang Street" station, and it is indeed a 3-minute walk from the hotel. But there are very few slow trains, so it is not recommended. Don't get me wrong, the transfer between the two needs to be at Fukui Station, a V-shape, which is a waste of time. There are 🈚️ convenience stores around the hotel, but there is a big local supermarket. The guest room is just tatami. The next day's breakfast is a set meal, which is very rich. The weather will say hello to your meal time, from 7:00 to 8.30, every half an hour, so you can't sleep late. There is a temporary market in the hotel lobby, local aquatic products, which are very special highlights.

Stayed on a weekday after Obon. Since it was a trip after the coronavirus pandemic, I took the plunge and booked ``Toki Forgetri Riza.'' The best😆💕 The room has 2 beds on tatami mats. It's a small but modern a**osphere and it's very relaxing. Check-in is not done at the front desk, but directly to your room floor, which gives it a special feel. If you use the shuttle bus to go out and return, you can casually hand over your room key at the entrance. wonderful! You can use the open-air bath in your room many times until just before checkout 😅 Enjoy your meal slowly in a semi-private room on the same floor as your room. The person in charge was very nice and I had a good time. Seafood, abalone, delicacies, etc. are very delicious. There weren't many guests, probably because it was the end of Obon, so I was able to relax and refresh myself in the public bath. This summer was unusually hot, so I would like to visit again in a different season. I went sightseeing around Tojinbo, but probably because it was the end of Obon, about half of the shops were closed. The same goes for Kanazawa Kenrokuen, which I stopped by on the way home.

Beautiful renovated room! We experienced making hot spring eggs, soaked in the hot springs in the large public bath, and refreshed ourselves by eating delicious dinner and breakfast. The large public bath is large, with plenty of indoor and outdoor baths. There was cold tea and water service in the changing room, a choice of shampoo, and a sake lees pack. In the souvenir corner, a morning market was held and seafood was sold and it was lively. Since I was taking a train, it was convenient to have someone pick me up at JR Awara Onsen Station. The hotel staff were all very kind and made it a wonderful trip.

I walked there from the Echizen Railway on a rainy day. It's about 15 minutes from the Echizen Railway. There were signs everywhere about access from car and JR, but the Echizen Railway is closer. I realized it was closer so I walked there. After checking out, it was a 5-minute bus ride. The bus was convenient, but it would have been even better if I could have walked around the hot spring resort town. The room was clean and the view was great. The food was absolutely delicious. I went there because I wanted to eat abalone. What's more, there was a bath and a morning market in the building with lots of fish, which made my family happy.

It's been a while since my wife and I last traveled together. The bath was very spacious, and it was a weekday so we were able to relax in it. We ate at Sen no Sachi. I was impressed by the hospitality of the staff. I don't often have a chance to visit Hokuriku, but I think I'll go again when the Shinkansen service gets better.

I was able to relax just like last time. The food was also delicious. I wanted to use the massage chair after the bath, but there were only a few of them so I couldn't use it. The karaoke was too expensive so I gave up.

This was my first time at Awara Onsen. I booked this place because it was relatively high-ranking and you can stay alone. Since I was alone, the only plans I could choose were a Western-style twin room or an 8-tatami Japanese-style room in the Sensenkan, but when I called, I was told that I would get a Japanese-style room if it wasn't particularly busy, so I made a reservation. When I actually checked in, I was upgraded to a 12.5-tatami room with a wide veranda in the Sensenkan. Thank you! While many inns have changed their tea service to self-service due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this one properly guided me to my room and served me tea. The room was spacious, with a double sink and a unit bath, which I didn't use. The room wasn't very new, but I didn't feel any deterioration over time. The furnishings were also neat. However, there were no fresh flowers. There was an empty refrigerator, a safe (old-fashioned), and an air purifier. The hangers in the clothes closet were of high quality and there were a lot of them. However, there was no disinfectant provided in the room. When I was preparing my futon during dinner, they properly provided cold water. However, I was concerned that the curtains were not closed. Meals are not served in the room, but at the seasonal dining room Sen no Kowai. Even though it was a weekday during the COVID-19 pandemic, there were surprisingly many guests. However, the tables are spaced apart and there are partitions, so it doesn't bother me. The meal started with appetizers such as scallops and duck. The sashimi was tuna, sweet shrimp, and amberjack. Grilled blackthroat seaperch, shrimp, and scallops? They were cold, but... Hari-hari hot pot, mixed vegetable stew. Tempura. The shrimp was delicious! We finished with seafood buns, a meal, and dessert. The portions were elegant and the dishes were not particularly impressive, but overall it was a satisfying dinner. There are large baths, open-air baths, tub baths, and sleeping baths. The tub bath had a slight chlorine smell, but other than that it didn't bother me. This is an inn where you can feel the effort put into hospitality for guests, such as seeing off staff, making hot springs*, holding a morning market, serving oolong tea in the large bath, and providing special transportation to and from the station.
