Dear TripAdvisor Trust & Safety Team,
I am submitting this complaint to report a serious tourist safety and security incident that occurred during my stay at SEVN LEGIAN Hotel in Legian, Bali, which raises major concerns for visitors choosing this destination.
On the final day of our 10-day stay, cash was stolen from two separate hotel rooms:
- USD 420 from Room 222 ()
- USD 200 from Room 206 ()
The incident occurred while we were away from our rooms. During that time, only hotel housekeeping staff had access, which makes this a severe breach of trust and guest security.
What is particularly alarming is that:
- The theft happened only on the last day of our stay, suggesting intentional timing.
- The hotel management failed to conduct a serious investigation.
- We were instead blamed and told: “Why didn’t you put the money in the safe?”
- The in-room safe was frequently malfunctioning, requiring repeated contact with hotel staff.
For international tourists, personal safety and protection of belongings are fundamental expectations. This incident, combined with the hotel’s dismissive response, reflects poorly not only on the property but also on the overall tourist safety standards expected in Bali.
We are reporting this to TripAdvisor to ensure this incident is formally documented as a tourist safety concern, and to help protect future travelers from similar experiences.
We respectfully request TripAdvisor to review this case under guest safety and security policies.
Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.
Sincerely,
Khalid
